Caribbean Scenery

IRFClearance,

Thanks for your valuable reply. I am eyeing on Latin VFR Tobago and Trindad airports (both). Do they give you memory resource problem or huge frame impact problem? I have many Tropical Sim sceneries plus France VFR French Antilles sceneries plus BluePrint Simulation TJSJ plus FlyTampa TNCM scenery and all of those sceneries NEVER NEVER give me memory resource problem or frame impact problem.

Do you think Latin VFR Tobago and Trindad airports (both) will be fine without problem like all my payware airports mentioned above?

And nice to meet you!! I love to fly around Caribbean and I am big supporter and fan of VATCAR!!!

Trinidad and Tobago for the most part, are medium sized hitters. Even though they are smaller sized airports the FPS loss is very noticeable and the Stuttering is pronounced while panning. [More so with Trinidad than Tobago]

Compared to TNCM, It's a bit lower in FPS comparatively. I think you should be fine however for the most part!

Does anyone know where I can download BlueSkyScenery's phototextures for Puerto Rico? The links on their website are broken.

I heard people complaining that Latin VFR's MKJS scenery is memory resource hog. Is it true? Do you have memory resource hog problem with that?

Not for me. You can read my system specs in the My PC link in the sidebar. I have only one scenery area that has taxed my system over the past year and it is the highly detailed New York City scenery from Aerosoft, and that with a prior video card that I have now swapped out. I have flown into the Latin VFR scenery in the Cayman Islands and Montego Bay, Jamaica, with this system with my prior video card, a Radeon 6750 1GB, and with my new card, an EVGA nVidia GTX560TI 2GB. I experience no perceptible performance loss with either video card.

The "famous" Caribbean scenery for FSX (which is truly awesome) would be FlyTampa's St. Maarten, which comes with the famous Princess Juliana intl., the famous St. Barts airport, and the famous SABA airport. All of those are credited with their insane approaches/runways/location and are truly amazingly designed and so much fun. Another great scenery by FlyTampa is the FlyTampa Grenadines, which is a collection of 6 or so islands and airports which are around 200(?) miles south of St. Maarten... I think. Payware, of course. Another GREAT payware scenery company is LatinVFR, which has multiple sceneries in the Carribbean including Trinidad, Tobago, and Jamaica to name a few. Truly amazing sceneries as well.

I have to wonder about LatinVFR, though. The quality of the scenery doesn't look that impressive in the few pics on the web that I have seen of their Caribbean locations. Have they done anything to improve their Kingston, Manley Airport since this review was written? http://www.avsim.com/pages/0210/LatinVFR2/MJKP.htm

And a lot of the stuff from TropicalSim and ImagineSim just looks really cartoony.

I think FranceVFR is setting the kind of standard that other scenery developers should be trying to meet.

I'd love to see that kind of scenery for San Juan, PR, Santo Domingo, Kingston, etc.

Hi guys, just because no one gives a rats hat about Saint Kitts I took it upon myself to try and make a shallow redo for here.

I have no idea what I am doing, I have never touched BGL files, I am a complete failure at Gmax, but I am trying, I really am.

I think the scenery looks really barren, I wish to change that with trees and probably volumetric grass if I can, only if I can!

I've never done anything with textures on sceneries, this is my first time fiddeling with XML files, and compiling BGL files, and I can't complain about sleep, this is the longest I've been up in my entire life [Almost a day now]. :Sleepy:

But someone's got to do it B)

Also have to line up some of the photoreal scenery with the overlying layouts.

Anyone knows how to layer the Taxiways etc with a texture? Shall I also compile BGL files with a texture and lay them out one by one?...
