Caribbean Scenery

Featured Replies

If you look at freeware downloads every day on avsim and flightsim, you would notice that some guy is making freeware photoreal scenery of each of many Caribbean islands as possible as he can.

Caribbean scenery is NOT neglected. Many softwares are making lots of airport sceneries.

Payware VFR France scenery makes AMAZING Martinique and Guadalupe airports as well as two entire islands.

Tropical Sims sells lots of Caribbean airports. My particular favorite is MBPV airport and I would STRONGLY recommend buying ABC ISLANDS package too which is like buying three Dutch Caribbean airports for the price of one. This includes new version of Aruba airport.

BluePrint Simulations offers AMAZING freeware TJSJ at PAYWARE quality.

Max Kraus offers outstanding freeware Barbados airport at payware quality.

FlyTampa is of course famous for TNCM airport.

Tropicalsim makes payware TIST airport.

Thanks for the suggestions, I would agree that there are a few freeware and payware airports but in terms of natural beauty, the caribbean has so much to offer in that regard and it would be nice if a developer like Orbx or FlyTampa would take up the challenge to cover the Caribbean in its entirety. It would require an entire remake of the landclass, autogen and beaches. Many persons think that flying into St.Barts and SABA are the only challenging airports in the Caribbean. But I can tell you that Melville Hall and Canefield in Dominica, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Tortola and some other smaller islands around Martinique offer a significant challenge based on the short airfields and terrain. I hope that 2013 sees a renewed interest in this region.

Aside from the freeware guys that do a remarkable job...

How many of these airports would you really say are worth spending money on Aharon? How many of them are by top notch scenery developers. Of the thousands of Caribbean islands, how many have been modeled, even if just by dropping photoreal scenery on them? How many of them were made after 2010, and how many of them are still supported by their respective developers, being constantly upgraded?

Excuse me for sounding spoiled here ; but If your answer for all of these questions is less than 7,000, then we are surely being neglected. :Hmmmph:

UTX Caribbean is a complete remake of landclass, beaches etc. After reading your last post I think this is what you are looking for. There is a landclass set by Scenerytech too.

Melville Hall & Canefield OMG it is really challenging so very true . I think flights gets cancel on Foggy Weather condition due to the fact that you have to make an approach threw some very high mountains . I try to land the NGX there an the terrain alarm was going crazy. Very challenging indeed !!

Melville Hall is among my favorite Caribbean Approaches, along with St barths, Saba and Montserrat.

Into Melville Hall is like being blanketed with a mountain.

IRFClearance,

Many payware Caribbean airports are worth spending money on, ESPECIALLY FRANCEVRF software company for their AMAZING Martinique and Guadalupe sceneries. Although they might not have been updated for while, they are still timeless masterpiece and well matched to any airport scenery introduced this or next year. Look at those samples that I made for you:

Am going to be honest i once went with a friend of mines to Melville Hall flying on ATR Aircraft , an i was shock to see how close we were to the trees lol. I always ask myself why do we always take that rout on that approach above those high mountains. Because when you take off it is so different . Most of the time we just takeoff out to the sea.

I agree that the Caribbean has been neglected. I wish ORBX would create a Caribbean scenery, but it looks like they are way too busy creating airports.

I wish they would just focus on regions. The whole world should be ORBXed.

Latin VFR Cayman Islands gives you Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. I also have Latin VFR's Montego Bay, Jamaica. Also look for Cancun X from Latin Enhance. All of these are good for non-photo real, and all have animation enhancements.

I heard people complaining that Latin VFR's MKJS scenery is memory resource hog. Is it true? Do you have memory resource hog problem with that?

It's hard to say if it's an astounding memory hog because my memory is almost always 100% utilized anyway but,

For me, LatinVFR's scenery just bring a huge frame rate loss. Their MKJP, same boat,

Their KMIA - I do not know if it is possible for anyone to get above 5PS there.
