January 4, 201313 yr Sometimes you would like to fly the first turn of that SID ,(hand fly with that thing that cost $160) , but sometimes it is easier to go on A/P, than look down on the radio stack (in the VC) when ATC give you a hand off. Even if you have the frequency on standby, you get dizzy, when switching freq. I would really like to get a Saitek radio stack, eventhough the virtual radio stack is there....I can't use it without getting very dizzy. The PMDG NGX virtual cockpit is the best, but unless you have got all the gear it is really hard to fly with. I need TrackIR. The saitek Radio stack I would like to hand fly more, on departure and landing, the A/P wonderfull though it is, can degrade your awareness. J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s
January 4, 201313 yr Forget the Track IR and the Saitek Radio stack. You need Prochlorperazine 5mg tablets !! If you get Dizzy just looking at your monitor, it's time to go visit the Doctor.
January 5, 201313 yr Usually avoid atc most of the time, half of the time I don't even get to finish a SID without being told to go to an altitude that is prohibited by the actual SID or to go to a new waypoint, again contrary to the SID. And being booted out of the server for not responding to an ATC that didn't exist the few minutes before isn't very nice either and of course, that is also contrary to the real world ops so to speak. Ahh well, can't expect everything to be right. Don't know what you mean about 'dizzy' but I presume you mean - a confusing or difficult situation as a pose to actually suffering from light headedness lol.
January 5, 201313 yr Author If you get Dizzy just looking at your monitor, it's time to go visit the Doctor. Will this help with vertigo? Usually avoid atc most of the time, half of the time I don't even get to finish a SID I'm surprised...I mean it is good to fly offline, but ATC helps give an all round focus to a 737 operation? January 5, 201313 yr True, but most of the time i'm finding that i'm being diverted from the true SID and following that is more important to me than the feel true factor provided by vatsim.

I think you can request to fly the SID on VATSIM, if they are not too busy, otherwise they will expedite you as quickly as possible. J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s

Even if you have the frequency on standby, you get dizzy, when switching freq. Your copilot is there to handle the radio. In FSX this is simulated by using the '1' shortcut in the ATC window. I agree with you that its fun to be a pilot; just don't overdo it trying to be pilot and copilot. Like in real life a SID is the base plan for a flight but ATC is going to take you off it when it suits them. So in FSX they do take you off before the end but that's the way it should work. The only real problem I have with FSX ATC is they don't help you clear over mountains along the path; they tell you to descend but its up to you to choose the descent rate that gets you past the mountains before getting too low. Sometimes they complain if that takes awhile Clark edit: sorry, I confused SID with STAR. Yep, its hard to juggle the radio while climbing out just above stall speed Clark Janes

January 5, 201313 yr for motion sickness or vertigo, just go to Wal*Mart and get "Seaban" or "Dramamine" the both work just as well, and they are "Over-the-counter" medicines so you do not need a prescription. My wife is a Certified Pharmacy Technician - 15 yrs experience.
January 5, 201313 yr Preset your standby frequency and set a key/joystick button to swap the frequencies. Saves you time in high workload portions of the flight. Sent from my iPhone...typing errors imminent AJ Pongress
January 5, 201313 yr As legit as the information seems, I don't think it's best to get medical advice from Avsim members, we are pilots, not Doctors! I'd suggest you seek input from a Doctor or someone trained in the field of medicine of some sort.
January 5, 201313 yr I found switching to a left handed stick (yoke may work too) leaves my right hand free to click the buttons I need. As long as I have the Departure frequency pre-selected in standby, I can handle the freq change fairly easy (possibly using hat-switch to move eyepoint). The suggestion of setting up a button or keystroke for this function is also a good one. The second frequency change (Departures to Centre) may be a little harder, but usually you are nice and cleaned up and high/fast by then, alot less daunting doing a frequency change at 250kts out of 8000+ ft than it is at V2+15 out of 850ft riding flap 5. January 5, 201313 yr Did you look at FS2Crew voice version? Works perfect for me. Let your Co dial the freqs for you, and he's paid for that ;-) JetNoise Gesendet von meinem Nexus 7 mit Tapatalk 2 --
