January 5, 201313 yr Did you look at FS2Crew voice version? Works perfect for me. Let your Co dial the freqs for you, and he's paid for that ;-) JetNoise Gesendet von meinem Nexus 7 mit Tapatalk 2 Or just predial it and say "swap com 1". Ahh... the beauty of having a (nearly) real copilot.
January 5, 201313 yr Author Did you look at FS2Crew voice version? I need to give this program more of a chance. I used it in FS9 a few years ago and I think it messed my flight sim up. I felt at the time it was overwhelming resources. But i should go back and have another look. I found switching to a left handed stick (yoke may work too) leaves my right hand free to click the buttons I need. As long as I have the Departure frequency pre-selected in standby, I can handle the freq change fairly easy (possibly using hat-switch to move eyepoint). I fly in the left seat and use the left hand, so this is a good point. I could set up a key on the Saitek throttle controller. As legit as the information seems, I don't think it's best to get medical advice from Avsim members, I guess our members are having a bit of a joke, but google is beoming a pain up the b**t these days. January 5, 201313 yr FS2 Crew for the PMDG 737 NGX is quite simply "amazing". It instantly halves the workload in the cockpit, leaving you ( the pic) to fly the airplane and concentrate on the atc calls. I would encourage any one who has not tried this fantastic add on to do so athe first opportunity. Not only does it make the NGX easier to manage it also increases the feeling of reality. I would not ( could not) fly with out it! January 5, 201313 yr Commercial Member sometimes it is easier to go on A/P, than look down on the radio stack (in the VC) when ATC give you a hand off. Most of the time, on VATSIM, you're only going to have the one person on tower and one person on DEP/APP or Center above you. Being a pilot myself, I know how tough it can be to swap freqs alone in the sim, with all of the hatting around. During taxi, just mention to the tower controller that you would like to switch to departure frequency as soon as you're cleared for takeoff. If the controller is worth his or her weight in salt, the request won't be met with resistance. As I was taught: if you don't have a need to keep them, pass them on to the next controller. January 5, 201313 yr Author Most of the time, on VATSIM, you're only going to have the one person on tower and one person on DEP/APP or Center above you. At EGKK you sometimes get an early hand off from GND up to a London Control, if it is late and staff levels are low. So you can be lining up on the runway already in radar control, then all you have to say is your passing alt with out freq change. Quite often however, Gatwick GND, TWR, Gatwick Director are all on. Some days there is DEL.Then you really have to work those radios. I like it like this, this is a joy to behold. Flight Sim ergonomics has always been a bit problematic, trying to get at radios in the PMDG, (the best 3D cockpit ever) with out getting disorientated. The real soultion is to get a hardware radio of some sort. WIth NAV1 and NAV 2. And the transponder I hope. Do trackIR users find they can use the NGX 3d radio stack in a real time manner? FS2 Crew for the PMDG 737 NGX is quite simply "amazing". I need to look at fscrew, again as I really like the look of it. From what I have read on here it looks like a brilliant program for CRM. January 5, 201313 yr Just use EFB on your networked laptop, picks up the frequencies in use, they are placed and updated in real time on a strip on your moving map, right click and tune, like butta'
January 6, 201313 yr Just use EFB on your networked laptop, picks up the frequencies in use, they are placed and updated in real time on a strip on your moving map, right click and tune, like butta' SB or FSINN show the frequencies for free, plus Aivlasoft's efb doesn't correctly display altitude crossing restrictions which makes it kind of redundant for me if I have to look at the charts anyway. A $90 solution to switch frequencies is a little extreme. Sent from my iPhone...typing errors imminent AJ Pongress
January 6, 201313 yr Do trackIR users find they can use the NGX 3d radio stack in a real time manner? Don't have NGX, but on the MD11 I find it easy with TrackIR. To help, I added TIR/pause on a secondary mouse button: 1- turn head to radio stack and "pause" Track/ir 2- tune radios 3 - unpause track IR Works well, especially since PMDG's radio knobs are designed with good mouse scroll zones. Haven't seen that anywhere else though. I use the FSINN / FSCopilot mini bar to tune the radios. Saves panning and typing the frequency is a lot quicker / easier. John-Alan Pascoe
January 6, 201313 yr Going to try FS2CREW when i've finished doing a few more tutorial 1 stage tests and finished on tutorial 2. After a while I think I will then buy fs2crew to deal with all the first officer / copilot work. I think doing it now will make me loose out on a great deal of understanding and awareness of the other tasks to do - even if they are the responsibility of the F/O. One step at a time I suppose.

I'd still like to check what the co-pilot does . Eventhough I have been flying solo with the NGX, I feel I have learned a lot in doing this. I have seen some very good video tutorials from this youtube user Frogglesim. The videos look quite old now, but worth a watch. (sorry if you have seen it) For the most part I looks great, I am a bit worried that it might cause confusion to begin with but certainly worth investigating. I am hopinhg it will help with ATC. The guy in this video did a great job. Although as you can see it is still a lot of hard work. He seemed to pick up the PMDG very quickly in a few weeks. J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s

Looking at some charts we have the same at EDDB, EDDH, EDDT, EKBI, ENBR, There are probably many more if you just look Regards Johan Grauers
January 6, 201313 yr True, but most of the time i'm finding that i'm being diverted from the true SID and following that is more important to me than the feel true factor provided by vatsim. When I'm controlling and the traffic picture allows it I will always give a plane direct to fix that is on the exit point of my sector, usually the end point of your SID. Most people are thankful for this, as it reduces their flight time and fuel usage. This is also common in real life. The airlines love saving fuel. So it's actually more realistic to get taken off the SID than to fly the complete procedure. If you really want to fly the complete procedure you could always ask the controller when he instructs you to go direct to a fix. vatsim s3
