January 5, 201313 yr Hello, A few days ago I bought the PMDG 737-800/900 software. It's an amazing plane, but now I have a problem; sometimes whem i'm flying the FSX freezes and shuts down. I always program my route in the CDU but when it freezes I have to restart FSX and do the complete flight from the beginning again. I have been looking for hours to find how I can save my flight and load it later again at that point and complete the flight. Is there anybody that can help me please? I don't think it can be my hardware: ASUS PZ77, Intel core I7 3.40GHz, 16GB DDR3-1600MHz, 600GB WD velociraptor, Asus EAH6950 (2GB DDR5) Is there a solution to stop the freezes? And a way to save your flight (so I can load it again from the last saved point)? Thanks in advance. Nico
January 5, 201313 yr I think the best bet is to submit a help ticket to PMDG. They are very helpfull. Read the documentation, about your Antivirus software and firewalls etc etc. Anything you can do by yourself is good. Have a fast computer as well. J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s
January 5, 201313 yr Author Ok thank you. My antivirus software and firewalls are ok. I have other add-ons and they are all working properly but now since I installed PMDG it starts to freeze... strange but hopefully PMDG have a solution. When I save the flight it's not giving errors or something and in the list of saved flights it's visible but when I load it, the programmed route isn't anymore in the CDU and the autopilot is also switched off and the plane starts to decent. I also installed the servicepack from PMDG.
January 5, 201313 yr Defo submit a ticket, they're very good in tracking down issues like this personally. Also if you bought it a few days ago you didn't need to install the service pack as it was already included in the installer Jay Vorkapic
January 5, 201313 yr Have you got a regristed copy of fsuipc since it helps with ctds as well just another idea to solve your freeze I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
January 5, 201313 yr Welcome to AVSIM! Before contacting the official PMDG support desk, you might want to consider applying "tweaks" (fixes in this case) such as HIGHMEMFIX=1 (in FSX.cfg) and UIAutomationCore.dll (in FSX main folder), which should prevent aircraft loading and memory usage errors, respectively. Please reference Word Not Allowed's Guide for detailed instructions on the application, benefits, and usage of these tweaks. It is important to note that these two tweaks are not merely optional performance tweaks, but are actually widely accepted as crucial stability enhancers. Hopefully they will eliminate your necessity to save flights, as such is inconvenient and unrealistic.
January 5, 201313 yr Author I don't have FSUIPC ( I don't know exactly what it is). I changed the FSX.cfg file already 2 days ago with the HIGHMEMFIX=1 and the UIAutomationCore.dll I didn't try a long flight since I have added the tweaks, so maybe the freezing problem is fixed ( I will try to do a long flight this weekend) I know that it's unrealistic to save flights but sometimes in need my computer urgently for my work and having the possibility to save the flight would be very helpfull for me and I save a lot of time Thanks
January 5, 201313 yr You can save flights just using the default FSX save ( ; key ). That will save everything including where every single dial and switch is, and all your FMC data (as long as you have hit execute on everything you need to, as you should in normal operations). Even though this is a very complex plane, it will save properly, pretty much every time (I very rarely have any issues with it). If you have FSUIPC you can set that to do autosaves for you too.
January 5, 201313 yr FSUIPC is a complex interface tool necessary for many FSX components. There is a satisfactory free version that comes with some add-ons, but many users recommend the full (registered) version. I do not yet own the registered version, as I am still trying to expand my aircraft hanger and scenery library. I changed the FSX.cfg file already 2 days ago with the HIGHMEMFIX=1 and the UIAutomationCore.dll Just for clarification, the UIAutomationCore.dll file is supposed to go into the FSX main folder. I understand why you might have to save flights, but I find doing so inconvenient, as I was never able to save flights correctly. Nor have I had the need to figure out how to do so properly.
January 5, 201313 yr I have always had bad luck reloading saved flight so I don't bother saving anymore, I am lucky my system has been rock solid stable for a long time now. However if I am in the middle of a flight and I need my PC for something else I just pause and alt-enter to desktop and do what I have to do and come back later. Only real downside is it makes my weather forecast void if I take too long. Jay Vorkapic
January 6, 201313 yr Author I always save my flights with the ; key and in other add-ons it saves everything and also load it (include the flightplan), just with the PMDG he forgets the flightplan even when I hit the execute button in the CDU. The UIAutomationCore.dll file is in the main directory of FSX. I did a long flight this weekend and the freezing probleem seems to be gone!!! Now just the problem to save the game & flightplan and everything would be great. Thanks
January 6, 201313 yr Save your flight using save flight function via fsx menu, this should save perfectly your flight, all mcp and fmc data in pmdg 737 with no problem. I always save my flights in this way, also with md11, and all works fine. Riccardo OS: Windows 10-64 bit, CPU: i7-7700K @4.20 GHz, GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 G1 8GB GDDR5, RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB 3000MHz, MB: MSI Z270
January 6, 201313 yr With it losing the flight plan, are you inputting it manually or are you importing it via FSBuild or similar? I had problems loading flights until I stopped importing the flights (i.e. building it in FSBuild and then using the co-route option) and started inputting the route myself. Since then I have had no problems.
January 8, 201313 yr Author It got a message from PMDG and they told me to run FSX with admin rights and now he saves everything! But now I have again the freezing problem Should it help to put 8GB extra RAM memory? Then I have a total of 24GB. Or is it the graphic card or CPU,HDD..? If any body have a solution? Anyway thank you all for the responses and the good tips ^_^
January 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member What are you doing when FSX is freezing? For what it's worth, unless there's an emergency (real life), you generally know how much time you have to sit down and sim. As such, I know ahead of time that I have X amount of time to go flying. If the flight is more than 75% of that time, I won't fly it, and will instead choose a shorter flight. That, and re-loading a saved flight is about as unrealistic as it can get. Maybe that's just a real-world pilot carryover, but still. I don't see why the save feature even exists. Kyle Rodgers
