  1. Sounds like this is just the indication that direct input for the keyboard into the cdu is active. Make sure you aren't holding down the tab key on your keyboard. Otherwise just click on the scratchpad and it should all go back to normal. Hope that helps. Stephen Cole
  2. Me too - it just happened on the "long" panel state on engine start. Interestingly it hasn't happened to me on prior flights but this was the first flight that I activated maintenance based failures - and no, there are no active failures in the FMC. I don't think I did anything out of the ordinary procedure wise either (but who knows, I may well have sum how mucked it up). To be honest it is not really a big problem, especially when it comes to a new release. Stephen Cole Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Simply fantastic. The aircraft itself feels great to hand fly, with a real largeness to it, especially on taxi. The sounds especially deserve special praise- the noise of the brakes, taxi and take off roll, engines (basically anything you can think of) are just in a different league to other addons. Systems are as you would expect from PMDG. Best of all, the new auto time compression means that I can fit in long haul flights now which has reinvigorated FSX for me, as I had got bored of just flying to places within 1-1.5 hours flight time (and was wondering whether I even enjoyed simming any more). Now I can fly a 4-6 hour cruise in the same amount of time, which really opens up some opportunities. It does have some little issues - the frame rate is not as good as the NGX for me, but with some tweaking it is definitely acceptable. Oh, and if you leave the crew alert system on during 4x, you just about have enough time to think "what is that caution light?" before all manner of alarms go off.
  4. Also make sure that you are using the "virtual cockpit" view, not just "cockpit". Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Thanks very much. It turns out that your installer worked fine - everything was there and in order. The problem was that the VoxATC panels had set themselves to Window8 and Window9, the same place that FS2Crew was trying to put the panels. I just went through all the panels renaming VoxATC to window14 and window15 (both in the titles section and in the main panel section) and that solved everything. Now i'm free to enjoy this fantastic product!
  6. I just bought and downloaded FS2Crew for the Airbus X Extended and encountered the following problem. When I try to bring up the FS2Crew main panel or the Config panel, I instead get my VoxATC panels appearing. When I attempt to use either a Joystick or Keyboard shortcut nothing appears at all. I notice as well that my VoxATC panels are no longer in my instrument panel section of the alt menu. It is as if the FS2Crew panels have overwritten the VoxATC panel names but not the panels themselves. All of the other FS2crew panels are present and working. I have attempted to re-install FS2crew but this has had no effect. This is obviously a big problem as without these panels I cannot even initialise the program. Thanks for any assistance.
  7. The bit you are looking for is actually to programme the heads up guidance system. If you do not have that on the aircraft (enabled in the cdu under equipment in the pmdg menu), then you will not have the associated bit on the pedestal. You do not need it for an autoland as far as I am aware, so just skip that step.
  8. You can also use the FL Change function instead of a Vnav descent. You can get a much faster rate of descent usually (therefore catching up with the descent path). Also, try deploying your speedbrakes (to the flight detent), as this will increase your rate of descent in FL Change mode even further. In terms of what to put in the FMC - you can always take an educated guess as to what runway it will be based on wind direction.
  9. I think that you are looking at this from a different direction than they are. Losing the download file is in a way similar to losing a DVD for a piece of software. Would you expect the company to give you a new DVD if that happened? Hosting files for download costs money, and it is a bit odd to expect a company to do it for free after they have already delivered the files to you. Granted other companies do it for free, but that is an added incentive to use that company, not something that should be expected of everyone. All that PMDG are doing is saying that you, as the customer, have the responsibility to take care of the product once they have delivered to you.
  10. I am waiting for the livery which is just white with the release date written along the fuselage . That would be a pretty cool way of doing it. On a more serious/likely note I would love to see an emirates or BA virtual livery
  11. Every product you have released is excellent, and the quality is only increasing. If that means I have to wait longer then that is fine with me. It is sad to see that some people were so rude last night, and I can only hope that all the pleasant, reasoned replies on this thread go to show that we are not all like that. Do not let those other people tarnish the experience you had in giving that talk.
  12. Go to PMDG options in the CDU, into the sound menu and select your speakers/headphones (under devices). If there is nothing there then fire off a support ticket and they will sort you out.
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believed that autoland and crosswinds do not go well together. Have you recently installed weather software, or noticed that all these landings are in crosswinds?
  14. I think it's just the colour and the fact that it is a 'cleaner' cockpit than the NGX. All that dirt makes it easier to appreciate the high quality of the VC in its little brother, especially in screenshots.
  15. You need to go into the PMDG options in the CDU, into the sound menu and select your speakers/headphones. Hope that helps
  16. Thanks a bunch - these all look really professional!
  17. Also, make sure that if you have Opus FSX installed (for weather) that you turn off the dynamic head movements and automatic head movements in the addon menu.
  18. Yep, that's the one found in the FMC sub menu by the way. I had exactly the same problem.
  19. I would: Make sure the install is running as administrator. Re-download SP1 and try again. Try installing SP2, it may be that it has installed and it's just being awkward. Other than that, I would think re-installing fsx would be the only other solution (but don't hold me to that, there are some very smart people on this forum ).
  20. In the livestream that was on earlier RSR said that right now the 777 is using a little less than the ngx (at least that's what I think he said). Obviously things might change before release, but in it he said it is definitely something that the team is aware of, and thinking about.
  21. With it losing the flight plan, are you inputting it manually or are you importing it via FSBuild or similar? I had problems loading flights until I stopped importing the flights (i.e. building it in FSBuild and then using the co-route option) and started inputting the route myself. Since then I have had no problems.
  22. You can save flights just using the default FSX save ( ; key ). That will save everything including where every single dial and switch is, and all your FMC data (as long as you have hit execute on everything you need to, as you should in normal operations). Even though this is a very complex plane, it will save properly, pretty much every time (I very rarely have any issues with it). If you have FSUIPC you can set that to do autosaves for you too.
  23. Hey, at least it's a new, interesting suggestion and not another "will PMDG do the 787" (of course they will eventually). It reminds us that boeing and airbus aren't the only people making large commercial aircraft. It got you all thinking didn't it?
  24. There was an interesting news story a while ago about something similar. Basically they put a load of private pilot license holders (or commercial pilots on small aircraft) into an airliner simulator and asked them to land. Pretty much everyone crashed within a minute (usually by switching off the AP by accident). So, actually, I would prefer someone who had experience with the ngx over your average private pilot. At least we all know which buttons NOT to press. Personally, I think I could at least get to an airport if the pilots passed out (and opened the door first ). Landing, well, it wouldn't be brilliant I expect, but the crash would at least be on the runway!
  25. Don't get too wrapped up in fps, I run on 15 fps or less on the ground at UK2000 EGCC last time I checked. Best advice I ever got was to tune for the best possible scenery with smooth running. You would be really surprised how low your frame rate can go without any noticeable difference. Unless you are getting constant stutters don't worry. In the end you just have to decide what you want to do - spend all day desperately modifying your .cfg to get 2 more fps, or fly your ngx over beautiful scenery because a number doesn't dictate how much you enjoy your hobby.
