August 15, 200421 yr With all the excellent freeware and payware airplanes we have available today, it occurred to me recently that we're really quite spoiled with our choices. On that basis, I began to ask myself..."if I only had 6 airplanes that I could fly in FS9 until a new FS10 came out, what would those airplanes be?" Im talking about no additions...no mods...no subtractions...no new skins. Just the planes. Freeware or payware. I then started looking at my logbook, which I've kept since FS2002 and have kept current. My choices personally are (no particular order)...Default Cessna 172SP (for lack of a better one!)Dreamfleet C-177RGCarenado T-34A Mentor (not the B version...the A version).DHC-1 Chipmunk from Rick PiperDC-6B by Greg Pepper and Tom GibsonAeroworx King Air B200I dont fly jet airliners regularly any more and just really enjoy the less complicated GA world. So these would be my choices. What are yours?Eric AND
August 15, 200421 yr No RealAir Simulation aircraft in that list??? The SF260 perhaps?I won't limit mine to just six, because I don't need to.....:D L.Adamson
August 15, 200421 yr You are correct Eric, we are spoiled! LOL I can't think of another "game" with so much you can add to it, it's quite mind boggling when you think about it.At the moment, my choices would be the Aeroworx B200, the ESDG Cessna Citation X, the Aerosoft DHC2 Beaver, Deane Baunton's Huey 205, the Gmax Eurocopter AS350 and the FSD Pilatus Porter (all VA colors of course ;-) ). No heavies here either, but I can go to any airport and watch thanks to UT! LOLAll these will keep me pretty happy for awhile!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
August 15, 200421 yr I wanted to add that SF.260...I really did. I love it. However I dont really love flying from the right seat...so I dont fly that airplane as much as some others. Your mileage may vary as they say... :-)This was just a fun exercise to see what everybodys REAL favorites are in some kind of list. I frankly have gotten a bit picky on what I have aboard the HD these days, just because theres no reason to have 300 airplanes. I cant fly em all and Im finding more enjoyment getting to have more personal ownership of a smaller number of birds Im highly familiar with, especially something like the B200 where you have to manage it.I also dont fly Helos because I dont have rudder pedals. August 15, 200421 yr Hmmmm good question, Eric1)DF Piper Archer - my ole standby!2) FSD Aerostar - my favorite twin with the exception of the ones I saw on a beer commercial earlier ;-)3)Flight 1 - Iron Knuckle DC9 - it has lots of annoying noises but is fun to fly4) Eaglesoft Citation X - taxes my system a lot but is worth it5) Aeroworx B200 - turboprop PIC-style (sure Eric Ernst wasn't involved somehow??)6) Flight 1 Cessna 150 - feels just like my first X-country solo everytime I take it up!Really no big iron since we lost PIC767. If I had a 7th I'd pick the Grumman Goose by Bill Lyons. I even bought copies of Tales of the Gold Monkey on Ebay just to see the real one!David

August 15, 200421 yr "I dont fly jet airliners regularly any more and just really enjoy the less complicated GA world"Nothing more complicated than flying a GA aircraft single pilot ifr without any of the fancy automated equipment of the jets not to mention a flight crew..... :-)I'm with you on the Ga flying-but less complicated!? I know a 747 pilot who is "demoting" himself to a lesser aircraft cause he has to do simulator every month to stay current (e.g. not flying=no fun)-the autopilot is engaged almost immediately the entire time..... :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

August 15, 200421 yr As a simmer on the earlier versions (Apple II, C-64 and the DOS version of FS-5) I'll always be partial to to the Cessna 182. Since returning to the sim with the 2002 version, I thought the Caravan (208B) and Mooney were pretty good. With FS9, I think the Mooney is vastly improved, I can finally fly the Lear, and the Cessnas are good, but for me the best discovery has been the DC-3. I've since downloaded any number of panels, textures, sounds, etc (thanks Dark Moment, Trev Morrison, et al) and have experimented and added my own variations so that my version's heritage is completely obscured, but for me the DC-3 scratches an itch I didn't know I had. On the freeware side, number one has to be the Moraine 505. What a great plane (and sounds) for lo'N'slo. Thanks Guy Hulin!
