February 10, 201313 yr Just a bit of flying in the recent snowstorm that hit the Northeast. The last of it hit Boston in the afternoon, and I tried flying in it. On approach. Can't really see anything. Trying to figure out where the runway is. Runway in sight. Touchdown. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. February 10, 201313 yr I live in NY and we got 22" of Snow in our little town on the Hudson. Awesome storm and a great time for flying. It really tested my landing skills. February 10, 201313 yr Great snow and visibility effects! Even though it had been snowing heavily here in Central New York, I decided to fly from LOWW to LSZH. Fortunately, it was equally snowy in Zurich. . . .
February 10, 201313 yr Terrific snow effects! Where, why, how? Mine always look elongated, not like snowflakes at all! Nice landing btw. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
February 12, 201313 yr Author Terrific snow effects! Where, why, how? Mine always look elongated, not like snowflakes at all! That was Boston, I flew there because I hadn't gotten a chance to fly in the snowstorm, and that's default real world weather. We were hit with a foot of snow in my area. It didn't help that my snow blower crapped out, so I ended up clearing half the driveway with an MDX. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. February 12, 201313 yr A foot I have over 3 foot drifts here south of Boston what a mess. Rich Sennett
February 12, 201313 yr Thankfully, the Gods spared the mid-atlantic ("Snowmadgedden" still fresh in our minds from a few years ago), but the winds... Holy lifted skirts Batman! 40 sustained, gusting to 60 mph. Gave it a shot in the "17 kt cross wind limited" JetProp (Modified to current Meridian specs)", and scared the bajesus out'a my family in the back rows.
