February 18, 201313 yr Should all the Ultimate Terrain package be lower priority then other ad-dons for example should ultimate terrain be under all other scenery ad-dons? Example 1.)vancouver 2.)Misty 3)Tongass 4.) Freight dogs 5.)France VFR 6.)Ult Terrain Euroupe 7.)Ultimate Terrain USA 8.)Ultimate terrain Canada Alaska Heres how i have it setup
February 18, 201313 yr As an aside ... you will get better results if your scenery is installed by country and positioned/aligned West to East. Your cfg shows mighty confusion with US airports at top AND bottom. The positioning of your Ultimate Terrain files appears correct.

Just curious about the statement on arranging files by country and west to east. Ive never heard or read that anywhere before so wondering where that info originates. My airport sceneries are pretty much all over the place but I would make the effort to organize them if I would see a performance improvement. Ron W
February 18, 201313 yr Organizing airports by location is mostly just organizational help for YOU. But it helps the PC, too. It streamlines how hard the computer has to work to figure out overlapping relationships. The effect is minimal, but if you are starved for framerates, every little bit helps.
February 18, 201313 yr So is it really worth the effort to sit there and arrange the scenery in that specific order, as you can see i have alot to sort
February 18, 201313 yr Flight sim makes millions of calculations per minute to give us a virtual world to fly in. The idea that it can't sort out a simple text file is kind of silly. Yes some entries need to be in specific order in relation to each other, landclass below scenery as an example. And having some kind of organizational system makes it easier for us to keep track of what's what. The sim does not care if you have airports in a west to east orientation. If you don't believe me maybe you will believe Holger Sandmann- http://forum.avsim.n...r/#entry2595220 I did notice that you have many FREEFlow cities below the FREEFlow entries, I think they should be above. When all else fails, read the install instructions. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

Ok i saw my Freeflow entries i should then place Freeflow Bahamas over Freeflow Bahamas land Class and all Freeflow Cities above that as well correct
February 18, 201313 yr I also Noticed on Lissabon the entries are in this order Lissabon2008_SC Lissabon2008_LC Lissabon2008_ME Is this correct, Im guessing ME=Mesh LC=Land Class SC= Scenery Should Mesh go Under Landclass?
February 18, 201313 yr Is this correct, Im guessing ME=Mesh LC=Land Class SC= Scenery Should Mesh go Under Landclass? I don't have that scenery, so assuming that is correct, it does not matter where mesh goes in relation to the other two. Was there instructions with the addon? regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 18, 201313 yr If i remember correctly i think there was an installer, Im not to sure it's been a while since i installed this scenery....I hvent seen any problems in the area so im guessing its ok although i am seeing a problem elsewhere and i cant figure out what may be causing it. Here is the link to that issue http://forum.avsim.net/topic/400316-anyone-has-a-quick-fix-for-this/

I am mot sure this is related to your current problem, however, I noticed while scanning your scenery.cfg file that there are two Addon scenery layers listed: Layer 144 and Layer 245 in your original post. Regards, Mel

The effect is minimal, but if you are starved for framerates, every little bit helps. I think you're right .... the effect would be VERY minimal. More importantly, it depends upon where the files are stored on the disk. I've found that even that is a stretch to see any improvement of frame rates.

I've found that even that is a stretch to see any improvement of frame rates. you are right, the effect is VERY minimal - but it is something I have experience with. The first time I installed FS9, I did it on a computer with 512 Mbs RAM and a 533 Mhz CPU running Windows 98! The sim took up most of my 7 Gbs HD - and with all the settings left, I still only got crap FPS. In that situation, every little bit DID help!
