March 7, 201313 yr http://www.rte.ie/news/2013/0307/374557-dublin-airport/ Not very much info, looks like a Metroliner though. Wasn't it a Metroliner that had that terrible crash in Cork in February 2011. Ireland has a not so great relationship with the type I guess -_- Jesse Casserly ✌🏼️ https://www.youtube.com/user/JesseCasserly757 💻 i7-10750H 2.6 GHz / 5.0 GHz, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, RTX 2080 Super Saitek X-56 HOTAS
March 7, 201313 yr Thankfully it doesn't look as severe as the Cork crash. Looks to be a nose gear failure... No lives lost here.
March 7, 201313 yr It was indeed a Metroliner involved in the Cork Crash 2 years ago. Though visibility, though poor this morning was much better than on the day of the Cork Crash, so I'd say that wasn't a part in this accident, the gear probably just gave out... Caused a nice bit of disruption though this morning, the crosswind runway always seems to be closed when it's needed... Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
March 7, 201313 yr Author Hopefully they could just slap a bandaid on the nose and put it back into service I wonder when the gear collapsed though, during a takeoff role or landing roll-out??? March 7, 201313 yr Author Here's a clearer pic: Regards, Ró. Thanks Rò for the pic, much better than the other one You take it? This seems to be the aircraft: http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/D-CAVA.html Thats the most amount of info I could find. Is the crosswind runway actually in use? I have never ever seen it open. March 7, 201313 yr RTE reports the crosswind runway open, but they don't exactly have a lot of credibility, and their picture of the accident is below par. I can hear aircraft above me so somthing is taking off. Jude BradleyBeech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry. March 7, 201313 yr Author The Irish Independent has enlightened us some more http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/dublin-airport-reopens-after-plane-collapses-on-runway-29115428.html Jesse Casserly ✌🏼️ https://www.youtube.com/user/JesseCasserly757 💻 i7-10750H 2.6 GHz / 5.0 GHz, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, RTX 2080 Super Saitek X-56 HOTAS
March 7, 201313 yr Is the crosswind runway actually in use? I have never ever seen it open. Yup 16 is being used for takeoffs as we speak. 34 is used often enough for getting the morning rush out, they like to send traffic out on both 28 and 34 during the 6-7am rush in the summer. Typically though, as was the case today, the runway is always undergoing maintainence when it's needed, such as in actual cross wind conditions, I don't know how many times that runway has been marked down 4-5 months in advance that it'll be closed for a week, only for that week to be a week filled with almighty crosswinds on 28/10. As far as I know the AAIU have to come out and record the scene before the aircraft can be towed away... 5 flights diverted this morning, 2 of our aircraft and at least 2 Ryanair's, possibly 3... Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
March 7, 201313 yr Typical, that I can hear them but not see them with the fog Hope they get it sorted by Sunday,as I'm flying out then. March 7, 201313 yr Typical, that I can hear them but not see them with the fog Hope they get it sorted by Sunday,as I'm flying out then. Oh I'd say it'll be sorted within the next few hours... Hope you're not flying with the competition... Enjoy your trip either way, off somewhere nice? Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
March 7, 201313 yr 5 flights diverted this morning, 2 of our aircraft and at least 2 Ryanair's, possibly 3... Whew, that's all right then! As long as Ryanair's flights are diverted on a higher 3 to 2 ratio, then it is not so bad. It would be better though if it was a 4 or 5 Ryanair to 2 Lingus spread, but oh well, a small bright spot on an otherwise dull day! :spiteful: Seriously, Am really glad that the Metroliner crew are safe. :good: Kind regards,

Not the direct competition, Davao,in Philippines, two 777 trips, and an A320 at the end.~ 24 hrs altogether I see Rwy 10 appears to be back in business. A, very nice, enjoy, though I'm not sure it's exactly possible to enjoy 24 hours flying... Indeed 10 is back in action. Interesting fact I've come across, the accident aircraft was carrying a cargo of live mice and rats into the country this morning, goodness knows why...   :unknw: Regards, Ró.
