Flying with a human co-pilot?

Featured Replies

How many of you simmers fly with another simmer as a co-pilot? Can this even be done?

Yah FSX allows cockpit sharing, Never used it though.

Well tongue in cheek, yes. My own 737-800 cockpit, and friends (Co-Pilots) when they want to come fly!!

Yeah, I've done it a fair bit through cockpit sharing in MP. You can't both fly at the same time (have to hand controls off to each other through keystrokes) but in many planes, mixture and throttle and other functions can be operated by both players at the same time. Can make for some tense moments if your co-pilot is fiddling with things while on final! :-)

I don't have a home cockpit but once in a while my friend and I will take turns flying, or handling the radios and setting up the avionics.

How can we do that???

Join a multiplayer server or set up a LAN session with the other pilot and have both pilots join.

The HOST has to enable 'Join my plane" and the other pilot has to be sure he has that option UNchecked

You both have to have the same plane installed, use one of the defaults to start with as a lot of addons dont allow shared cockpit

Once the host is in and loaded have the other player choose the 'join aircraft' option in the briefing room after your name. If you get a message about "panels dont match' ignore it, you can still join.

Once both players are in hit SHIFT+T to transfer control. The non flying pilot can still operate gear, flaps but not the flight controls.

I've been trying out some shared cockpit flying in the MadDog with Dave from OVPA...

Takes a fair bit of messing about it seems to get it to work, what with port forwarding and other settings, but hopefully will get it running right sometime soon. I wish there was a shared cockpit for the PMDG NGX!!! Man that would be awesome, but would probably kill performance totally...
