March 14, 201313 yr Honestly, since I re-installed FSX Gold (last week) and decided to "migrate" into the DX10 mode World, I am so glad and everything runs so smoothly that I thank having been able to get my new (even if no top-notch) graphics card - GTX650 Ti 1GB DDR5. I too use UsePools=0 Followed the DX10 guide, pinned at the DX10-specific forum, and applied the Shaders and Aircraft Lighting, as well as the Rain Fix patches all listed there. Jim, through PM, was also very helpful and offered some very good advices. The outcome is an FSX running like I never had before. Ah! My recognition goes to Nvidia Inspecto too, because thx to it I was finally able to have instrument panels looking crisp and "perfect". Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
March 14, 201313 yr My FS takes inbetween 5-25 minutes to load. I have learned to deal with it, as it is extremely annoying. But I feel for you! I hate that it takes so long. Then there's something weird going on there. My first boot of the day is the slowest, but no more than a minute or two. If it can take you 25 minutes that's nuts, and something is amiss. UsePools=0 gives me a superb increase in performance, but mostly noticed in bad weather. Presumably scenarios that stretch the graphics card.

My computer is a horrible dell vostro laptop with like no ram, a video card that hardly works and hardly any space on the hard drive. I get about 8fps max on a normal day.
