PoolSize in cfg where is it ?

Featured Replies

Hello

So my FSX is taking up to about 3 Minutes to Load and this is crazy

So i have been reading here and there , and found that if i Put this under Main DisablePreload=1

It will help ( but that didnt do any thing ) or it could be that i have put it in the wrong place

the other thing is i found alot of people talking about how wonderful it is to do the PoolSize tweak

so i said let me try it out ( but i dont have any thing that says Pool In My CFG )

any help here please

thank you

Note is there any up-to  date CFG tweaks  that any one has used  ( trusted )

Hi Firas,

If you have a tweaked fsx.CFG from Bojotes tweaking tool, there should be a [bUFFERPOOLS] entry somewhere on top of your fsx.CFG, otherwise, search for it. If you don't have it, you can add it manually on top of all other entries.

Right under [bUFFERPOOLS] goes the PoolSize tweak. Many people recommend to set it to 0, it will increase your frames by at least 30%.

The tweak should look like this:

[bUFFERPOOLS]

PoolSize=0

Save your fsx.CFG, start FSX and observe the great framerate increase. :)

Good luck!

Just make sure you set your water effects to at least 6 - high 2.x I believe...  - otherwise you can get strange display problems...

This is the way it should look in your FSX.CFG:

[bUFFERPOOLS]
UsePools=0

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=14

[GRAPHICS]
HIGHMEMFIX=1

[Main]
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.33 //default .33
DisablePreload=1

You might check NickN site for more info.

The active one only has the extension cfg(i.e. FSX.CFG), the other one(FSX.CFG.txt) seems to be just a backup or something like that. So it is necessary to paste it in the FSX.CFG only, it won't have any effect not to paste it in the backup.

The FSX.cfg.txt wont be read by the sim and is only generated when FSX encounters a problem like a crash (CDT), error, freeze up, or similar. You can safely delete the .txt file and move on, no need to keep it or add entries to it to match the .cfg file. Assuming your sim is running problem free, you shouldn't see a .txt file generated when you close the sim and look in the folder that houses the FSX.cfg.

My FS takes inbetween 5-25 minutes to load. I have learned to deal with it, as it is extremely annoying. But I feel for you! I hate that it takes so long.

In my case, my FSDT download manager placed the same entry minus the RejectThreshold number.  I found by adding it improved performance, so I think it's worth keeping.
