March 21, 201313 yr Hi, Q1 I was going to buy the Spitfire but I think the Mustang might be newer. Is the Mustang a better product? Q2 find the A2a website quite confusing. I think I have to buy a plane, various different grades, presumeably the SPit and Mustang are highest?, then buy Accu sim to get the wear and tear, then maybe accufeel ? Is Is Accusim and Accufeel worth it? All opinions welcomed! Thanks BP76
March 21, 201313 yr A2A has done 2 types of mustangs, Military and Civilian. The newest is the Civilian and had modern avionics. The chioce depends if you want modern or old avionics ( war era ) Accu-sim is only needed for thewear and tear on the aircraft. AccuFeel is a addon for ALL aircraft in FSX ( it gives you tire screech sounds, wind sounds, brake squeel sounds ect - not needed with Accusim aircraft as it already has those effects) AccuSim is werth every penny, it brings life to the plane Not sure what you mean by diffrent grades? Hope that clears things up. Regards Luke M
March 21, 201313 yr IMO P-51, P-40 and Spitfire are equal in systems modeling with accusim. It is more what kind of plane you are searching. P-51 is "state of the art" warbird of late WW2 as Spit and P-40 are more early machines without all the finesse P-51 has. They are all very different in character. For example, P-40 has lots of fun details what P-51 and Spitfire lacks like electric/hydraulic landing gear and flaps systems and so on. It also feels very rugged aircraft. Spitfire comes with early two speed and fixed propellers which give totally different experience and you can also break its engine very easily if not flying properly. P-51 has of course best performace, but it is IMO the easiest to fly, more like a "HOTAS" plane with many automated systems. All of them are good as are also ###### 2 B-17 with accusim and Stratocruiser and CoTS. Aircraft Factory is A2A's "budget" line, but for the price, they are extremely good. Biggest difference is mostly, that they lack the Accusim addons. AF Corsair is amazing, even if it is quite old, but for the price of under 13 bucks nowadays, it is a steal. There are no "levels" for A2A. A2A has Wings of Power 2 and 3 planes as well as civilian planes under Wings of Silver brand. Wings of Power 2 and 3 are more like generations, 3 being newest, but Wings of Power 2 are also very high quality. Accusim is the addon that gives all the deep systems modeling, wear and tear and for those that are seeking ultimate realism, they are a must. Accufeel is addon for non A2A planes which adds "Accusim" environment effects to all addon planes. Of course, it doesn't add Accusim systems to those planes. It is not needed for Accusim birds. I don't yet have quite all of their aircraft, only the one I mentioned here, plus their old Aircraft Power Pack from FS9 times and it amazes me how good even those early models were nearly 10 years ago. I love their B-29. I can only daydream that they would release new B-29 with accusim someday. Accu-sim is only needed for thewear and tear on the aircraft. As I said, Accusim does more than that. It also applies proper hydraulics and electric systems simulation to the planes. That means that Accusim module calculates real time hydraulic pressure values and electric currents in the sim. They aren't just some more or less fixed values that is applied to flight model like in normal FSX aircraft.
March 21, 201313 yr The Mustang definitely gives you more "flexibility" of sorts if you like to use the magenta line as a sort of navigation, as the Civilian version is a great aircraft, just as the Military version is. The Spit is truly a beautiful aircraft, and flies amazingly, despite the engine being a true PITA to handle and keep cool. I don't have the P-40, but the general consensus is its a great aircraft, rugged, and equally complex as the Mustang and Spitfire are. Really, you can't pick a bad aircraft from the 3!
March 21, 201313 yr I own and love all those mentioned. Along with their Jug, their Fortress, their 377 and their Cub. All wonderful aircraft that are at a completely different level immersion wise. I'd start with the one you feel the most for. For me it would be the Spit, which has tons of personality and is really challenging to keep working, but the Civ mustang is better for Vatsim/IVAO, expecially with the RXP GPS up front. it's a really touch choice!
March 21, 201313 yr Author Hi, I really appreciate all of your advice ! It sounds like I can't go wrong so will see what I feel like in the morning. If its as good as it sounds I will probably end up with both eventually! Cheers BP76
March 22, 201313 yr Accu-sim is only needed for thewear and tear on the aircraft. AccuFeel is a addon for ALL aircraft in FSX ( it gives you tire screech sounds, wind sounds, brake squeel sounds ect - not needed with Accusim aircraft as it already has those effects) AccuSim is werth every penny, it brings life to the plane Accu-sim does FAR, FAR more than just add wear and tear. There are modules in it that models accurate physics for most systems on the plane including prop, handling and ground handling, not just hydraulics, etc. I have all of the A2A accu-sim aircraft. They are all good. The Spitfire is probably the most challenging, not to fly, but to manage. I simply love the P-40. They got the feel of a wing flying through the air just so very right with that one. But they are all good. You can't go wrong. Accu-feel shoudn't really be used with accu-simmed aircraft. But it is nice to have on all your others.
March 22, 201313 yr Like the others have said, you can't go wrong with any of the A2A fighters. It just depends what kind of style of flying suits you. Each plane is it's own personality. One will fit you the best. I would suggest, pick one, then eventually get the others when you can. My personal favorite is the P-40, it fits me and my style of flying like a glove. Think of the P-40 like an old rugged stick shift Jeep. Think of the Spitfire as a vintage Jaguar E Type. Think of the P-51 as a...well a vintage Ford Mustang Cheers TJ "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
March 22, 201313 yr I like their P51 Civilian because I can fly IFR on Pilot Edge. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
