March 27, 201313 yr We need more details. What didn't work? Did you press the 'browse' button to select the directory you want to install FSX in? If so, did you get a message something like "directory xxx does not exist, do you want to create it"? If you did, that is normal, just select 'yes' and continue and it will create the directory. If you had some other error, you will have to tell us what it was if ou want us to help you solve it. At least some people posted some help other than flaming others, yea I agree with paul but I would add since you already had installed fsx and uninstalled it, its lilkely you didn't really get rid of any left over registry files. my suggestion is to use a free addon ccleaner first and try again it should work hopefully I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
March 27, 201313 yr In the OPs defense (a little bit) I believe what happens that causes multiple topics on the same thing is when the poster clicks POST or SUBMIT or whatever it is and it doesn't go right away they get impatient and click it again and again resulting in multiple threads with the same topic. I could be wrong but that has always been my assumption when I see that. As for putting FSX in a different directory as someone else already said it keeps Windows from messing with it. Apparently Windows applies more security and controls on programs in the (x86) directory which can cause issues. Tom Landry
March 28, 201313 yr You have to click the button "More Options" when the first screen appears to install to specific directory. It's very easy to miss, did that myself, and the installation went to the default location. ------------------------ Mattias Nordin ESOW
March 28, 201313 yr I've actually always installed FSX into the default location, that's been with Vista (64bit) and now with Windows 7(64 bit). I can honestly say I've never had any issues with doing it, never had any CTD's, and on Windows 7 I'm finding the NGX is running perfectly and with using add ons too. Totally agree Tony, I always use default locations and never ever have a problem with it. Provided one follows the rules of the OS in question (e.g. Install as Admin, Run as Admin etc) then stuff just works, every time. I've always taken the approach that default locations are what they are because that is where stuff is supposed to go by design. I must admit that I find it hard to believe that people still don't get the "As Admin" thing, years after Vista first introduced it! Bill Casey
