AOTD for 3/26/13 - Wa'Alae Falls

Featured Replies

This waterfall could be a tough one to find. According to the description it's deep in Waimea Canyon. Sounds like a good one for the CC in case you have to make a hammerhead turn.

Enjoy.

Thank you.

It is a tough one.  Be ready to do some manuevering.  You almost need a chopper.

Hi Folks

Today's is a re-cycled default,

but now with an added twist ......

an new apostrophe in the name.

Guess appropriate,

given previous was "End of the World".

Love the late evening's, sun on the horizon,

light and shade in all those valleys.

Earned a couple of bridges on the return flight.

I thought the name looked familiar, but I couldn't find it in my AOTD list. A recycled permanent. Interesting. :O   No wonder I didn't find it. :P

Thank you.

Hmm., sounds like a job for the A-Loha Icon, or the Avsim Cub perhaps.

I will have to give it a go in the morning.

This might be one that I landed at the top of the canyon and walked down to get the cache. I remember one also that I did this at and I almost couldn't find my airplane when I returned. Boy was my face red.

Thank you.

Hi Folks

Today's AotD is much easier to obtain,

as it's relatively clear of terrain.

Unlike the original -

which, as it was placed near the foot of the falls,

required a committed dive,

followed by some serious aerobatics

to exit along the base of the gully.

I got it without a problem this time with the RV-6. I do remember it being a LOT harder last time. Boy after flying the Cub so much I always forget how hard it is slow this thing down!

Well I was actually able to collect two aerocaches on this one, as I have only started doing these in the last month or so, I did not have the original one here either, one was with the apostrophe and one was without.

Here's something that most of you haven't seen in a long time - unclaimed permanent Aerocaches!

Well, I am waiting for a helicopter. :LMAO:   Never give up hope.

And back at Hanamalau, just because I love that vista.
