I like flying the Diamond because its cheaper to rent and the plane is very responsive, I barely have to make any inputs to make the plane do what I want it to do.

Wow - I never actually looked at our DA-20's rates.  It's cheaper than our "beater" C172P (which, despite my moniker, I have a special place for as it was my first solo a decade ago).

That's interesting, my simming configuration is opposite - left side stick, right side throttle. I found it's better in that way because I can use mouse and hold stick in the same time. Beside that, I'm left handed, maybe that's one of reasons. Even IRL, I never sat in right seat, I guess I should try it once.

Yeah, I wish I had a setup a little more like that.  Having my right hand free for mouse work would help.  I'm actually left handed as well, but I'm the weird hybrid left handed guy: eat and write left, everything else is right.

If you're flying in an airplane without instruments over on the right side, I wouldn't sit right unless you really need to.  I've sat right on 4 flights (three Cessnas, one Piper Malibu - all throttle left, yoke right) and it was only a slightly different feel.  My main issue was seeing the airspeed indicator for the approaches.

What I don't get is why PMDG takes this approach with the upcoming B777.

1. Community complains of PMDG with no updates and screenshots

2. PMDG provides a update and a few pictures to keep everyone calmed down

Community complains again of no screenshots-

PMDG claims *OH! LET THE PREVIEWS BEGIN!!*

Really?

Under the hood and behind the scenes, Boeing and Airbus are very different indeed. This is why, based on things written and spoken by key PMDG personel, Airbus development is highly unlikely. The frustration and sometimes anger shown in relation to something like this , baffles me. Maybe if PMDG had limitless funds to hire more people they could try to make every plane request.

What makes you say that?  Under the skin Boeing and Airbus aren't that different at all.  The difference is in how the controls and indications are presented to the flight crew.

I realise PMDG aren't likely to do an Airbus now, but it should be remembered that they did announce a whole family of Airbus sims a few years back. Obviously this development idea left with Lefteris and became FSL's product. The differences between Airbus and Boeing were not and are not the obstacle.

But that's the conventional single seater layout

Hate that convention, I cannot find any inverse HOTAS. In fact, the only joystick I can use is Saitek Cyborg as it has perfectly symmetrical buttons, and you can adjust base for left or right hand.

The only precise tool I use with right hand is mouse. In fact, I cannot use mouse with left hand, I don't know why. I guess I have enough precise right hand for joystick and just need a little practice.

Not sure if the definition of "week" is different in your part of the world, but that "Let the Previews Begin" thread was put up less than 3 weeks ago.  Where are you getting 10?

Additionally, we should be happy we're getting updates.  When was the last time you saw updates on some other developers' projects?  Further, for major game releases (console or PC) you really don't see much either.  You might get a couple videos prior to release, but that's about it.

But what would you do in the real thing?  You'd have to get used to operating with throttles on the left, so stick in the right hand.  They don't make left handed versions.

I have a few left handed gadgets (the best is a left handed corkscrew which totally confuses right handed people who try and use it).  But mostly I've learned to use right handed things just as well. I read somewhere that left handed people tend to be more ambidextrous, so their right hand is more useful than the left hand is for a right handed person.

I don't think I have any left handed gadgets anymore.  Most of the things that require torque or strength, I use my right hand.  The left is for finesse, I guess?

I'll definitely back you up on the ambidextrous comment.  I use both, and I could see how I use both more than a right handed person would use both (probably because they don't need to find special gadgets - haha).

And what about North Korea? There is some funny business going on up there huh ?

I have to agree. I'm right handed, my father is not. He's a LOT more ambidextrous (quite a fancy Scrabble-word there) than I am.

Somehow fit a Q in there and you'll be unstoppable.

I understand where you're coming from but they are still very different, how can you say they aren't especially from a development standpoint? Let's say for the sake of argument, PMDG was going to make a A3xx, how much of a Boeing product made previously would be used in the development process of the Airbus? My guess is PMDG's core code model and that's it. Regardless, I believe it's safe to say FSL will provide your fix for high quality Airbus simulations.

I can honestly say that I will probably buy FSL's A320, it looks like it's going to be amazing. I'm extremely thankful that FSL exists and is developing HQ Airbus simulations. It's a win win for all of us! B)

Simulating an Airbus hydraulic system, for example, is absolutely no different to simulating a Boeing one.  The core model for hydraulic pressure and flow can be used for any aircraft type.  Same for any aircraft system.  There's as much commonality between Airbus and Boeing systems as there is between different Boeings.

Where they can save is in the graphics of PFD, ND and EICAS which have a lot of common features between Boeings.  Airbus displays are rather different, especially ECAM and the way Airbus presents corrective actions to step through problems.

...which is a rather nifty/handy feature.

...which is a rather nifty/handy feature.

... unless you are in an A380 circling for an hour while trying to clear all the consequential actions after an engine exploded.

ki9cAAb.jpg

Airbus displays aren't particularly different. What is rendered on those displays, is.

The way these displays are rendered, is through the systems, which differ quite a bit between Boeing and Airbus. It's not like they can just copy and paste the logic from a Boeing plane into an Airbus plane, and be done with it. (in real life)

If PMDG coded the way I think they did, they could reuse a HELL of a lot of code from the NGX, but tweaking it would be a completely different story. But since that's all proprietary information, we'll have to stick with the "I think" for now...
