April 6, 201313 yr OK, couldn't help myself any longer so I've now bought FS Altitude and truely looking forward to try it out hopefully sometime next week! Will let you know what I think. Great! Please let me know your impressions after your first flights with it! Sure will, can't wait to get the package in the mail not to mention installing the scenery and try it out!
April 7, 201313 yr Here's an impressive list of native FSX aircraft models in development. Gets updated too. By courtesy of SeanTK,SOH. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq9-RAJ7AE8odFNwQ3ZnbXpLd2xCQzdBZ0gwOFJJbmc#gid=0 Myself i'd give 'em all up gladly for the PMDG DC-6. cheers, jan Jan
April 11, 201313 yr I'm currently enroute LSGG-ESSA on my first flight with FS Altitude and it's very cool looking down at the ground knowing what you see is what you would have seen IRL at the same location !! To be perfectly honest though I wish the resolution was a bit higher because even now when at FL370 the textures are a bit blurry I think but I also realize the problem with having higher resolution since that would take up a HUGE amount of space on the disk! I noticed the installation of FS Altitude with the current resolution weights in at approx 24.5 GB so...to have the same area covered but with higher resolution maybe would take up 100 GB or even more and I understand it would be hard finding customers willing to maybe even buy an extra disk for one single scenery. I would though but then again I'm a real FS nerd  Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and think it increased the sensation of realism a lot during cruise!
April 11, 201313 yr Cool. Thanks @@WebMaximus I've been on the fence for the FS Altitude series for years, but may just give it a go now. I'm sure it will really enhance my tubeliner and propliner flying.

I'd get a bigger disk but I fly a fair amount of GA and turboprops. Megascenery 2.0 hits its sweet spot at about 6000 ft. Problem is, below 1000 ft...yeesh...like waking up after a night of drinking next to...who? Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. Would you mind sending a few pics of this flight later on? Here's a couple of shots during the approach into Stockholm-Arlanda, didn't take any screenshots when departing Geneva I'm afraid since I was busy enjoying the scenery myself  As you can see in the shots below the scenery is rather blurry but these shots are from somewhere between FL150-200 so that will of course add to the blurry textures. Despite this I think it was very cool to approach Arlanda with this scenery since I never saw the approach scenery this way before in FS, it just felt "real" in a nice way although blurry. Looking forward to do more flying and hopefully also in better weather conditions with less clouds since the cloudscape enroute today was quite massive using OpusFSX as my wx engine with AS 2012 cloud textures. Funny enough I remember before getting OpusFSX I wished for true overcast conditions where I was not able to see anything of the ground and now when I have that thanks to OpusFSX I wish I could see the ground instead...guess you're never 100% happy
April 11, 201313 yr I wonder if there is a way to replace the FSAltitude photos with someone else's and still have it work. Hmm... Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
April 11, 201313 yr Imagine to have FS Altitude with the same resolution Google Maps use, now that would be something
April 11, 201313 yr Imagine to have FS Altitude with the same resolution Google Maps use, now that would be something  Thank you very much for the pics! Which zoom level do you use for the outside views? It looks quite blurry indeed, maybe it would get a little better at 0.30 zoom setting. I always have my outside view at 0.30. Do you use wideviewaspect=true in your FSX.cfg?
April 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member Hmm I guess I could soon do a flight from Athens to some African city, maybe to capital of Chad, N'Djamena and take some pics to show how FSAltitude Northern Africa looks.

April 15, 201313 yr Went on a flight to Malta yesterday and thought I didn't really see the effect of FS Altitude when approaching Malta and I then realized Malta is just south of FS Altitude Western Europe coverage. Had a look from top-down view in FSX and haven't tried this before since installing FS Altitude and thought I would post a screenshot here because it shows very clearly the difference FS Altitude makes! Flying over the Italian alps was amazing but not only because of the alps but also overall I really felt the sensation of no more repetitive ground textures...enjoying FS Altitude more and more for every flight!!
