April 6, 201313 yr Over at my VA there has been a lot of talk about Enigmasim and a 737 CL they have in the works, renditions from the cockpit looks very promising.
April 6, 201313 yr Keep in mind that FsAltitude is only sharp from 20.000 ft and higher on a single monitor and a zoom at 0.30-0.40.., It is 14.25 m/p.. So multimonitor for outside view is a no go as the image is unsharp, because it is blown up to much. I have done some betatesting with it years ago and if you keep the things in mind that I described above it is quiet good. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
April 6, 201313 yr For me - in no particular order Sibwings AN - 2, (check out the facebook page) Majestic Dash 8, Razbam Metroliner FSLabs A320 PMDG DC-6, 777, 747v2 A2A GA releases Milviz 737-200 Neil Burgess
April 6, 201313 yr Yet another question about FS Altitude, how does it work with different seasons, will you see green ground also when flying during the winter or does it include different photo images for different seasons? No, only one picture, no seasonal or night textures. Europe is already 25 GB without these, imagine how big one region would grow with seasonal and / or night textures. I am looking at FS Altitude for so long, and I was about to pull the trigger so many times already, but somehow, something held me off from doing so. It might be the disk space it needs. Since I am with SSD only in my new system, and 180 GB left for all the great things to come I am quite unsure what to do...What attracts me, is the fact that you see what you would see when you look out of the window of the real thing, flying at FL 360... Ok, too bad regarding the seasons or rather lack of but I realise the issue with how much space it would need. I guess the biggest problem with this is when you're descending / ascending during winter. However just like you I really like the idea of almost looking out of the real window when at FL360 and since that is where I spend most of the time I might very well end up buying FS Altitude. Someone also mentioned a similar product called SimSavvy with much higher resolution but I never really was able to figure out if there is a SimSavvy version for Europe available? Keep in mind that FsAltitude is only sharp from 20.000 ft and higher on a single monitor and a zoom at 0.30-0.40.., It is 14.25 m/p.. So multimonitor for outside view is a no go as the image is unsharp, because it is blown up to much. I have done some betatesting with it years ago and if you keep the things in mind that I described above it is quiet good. I'm running FSX on a 40 inch LED TV @ 1920x1080, would that work out ok with FS Altitude?
April 6, 201313 yr Aircraft: Majestic Software Dash 8-Q400 , it will definitely be one of the most realistic addon aircraft ever created for any flight simulator, pretty much all the system simulated, failures simulated & also custom flight dynamics that are calculated outside FSX, something completely unique. PMDG 777, just like their previous products it will surely be top notch.</p> FSLabs A320, it will likely be the best Airbus simulation ever, like the 737NGX of Airbus. Milviz 737-200, I think it will definitely be the best 737 original out there when it comes out. BlackBox Simulations A330, their A320 seems very good already so I think we can expect high quality from this one too. Been waiting for proper longhaul Airbus so long.. I think there's also Antonov 2 in development for Aerosoft, Razbam is working on a metroliner which will likely be very good too. For now these are what I remember from the upcoming aircraft... Scenery: Haven't paid as much attention, but at least Flytampa is working on YSSY for FSX which knowing their quality surely will be worth buying Also for high altitude airliner flying there are more FSAltitude photosceneries coming from FranceVFR, personally I find them just awesome and can't wait to get more of them. Actually it seems they have officially released a new scenery FSAltitude Northern Africa by now: http://www.flightstore.co.uk/flight-simulation-c499/scenery-add-ons-c543/usa-canada-scenery-c551/fs-altitude-northern-africa-for-fsx-p3775">http://www.flightstore.co.uk/flight-simulation-c499/scenery-add-ons-c543/usa-canada-scenery-c551/fs-altitude-northern-africa-for-fsx-p3775 And older FSAltitude products (USA & Europe & Australia) can be bought from their website: http://www.fsaltitude.com (apparently they are working on new website which would include also new products and download versions too) I highly recommend FSaltitude to anybody who does airliner flying, thanks to very friendly developer I've owned it for some time already and I just love it. Also FranceVFR support is top notch. And of course more Megascenery 2.0 state photosceneries are going to get released within the year, eventually covering whole mainland United States I believe, not entirely sure if also Alaska will be covered though? (fs altitude)I like this, but dear as poison ZORAN
April 6, 201313 yr Commercial Member One thing though, I have FS Genesis mesh, GEX and UTX installed - would any of those interfere with FS Altitude? I have all of those installed with it, works just perfectly with them. I'm running FSX on a 40 inch LED TV @ 1920x1080, would that work out ok with FS Altitude? Well I'm running using same resolution and it looks good + 30 000ft. At least for me it's way better than default terrain to look at, without FSAltitude or other photo scenery coverage I would never bother to even look at the boring generic ground. I'm currently doing a flight from Athens to Las Vegas, about 600nm to go and this is what I see below: http://oi49.tinypic.com/24y4dud.jpg Another one, now around 300nm left: http://oi49.tinypic.com/k3vrp.jpg From the cockpit: http://oi47.tinypic.com/152ywzc.jpg It's not too sharp but 100x better than default terrain + GEX at least. Someone also mentioned a similar product called SimSavvy with much higher resolution but I never really was able to figure out if there is a SimSavvy version for Europe available? Nah that's only for United States, also unlike the new Megascenery 2.0 product line I don't think Simsavvy includes watermasks.

Thanks for your input, great to hear there's no problem with other products and those screenshots really looked great! I think I'll go for this. As for Sim Savvy looking here it looks like there also is/will be a Europe version. http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?11056-Sim-Savvy-Announces-Satellite-Scenery-Europe

I'm stuck in the hospital for 10.5 more hours on a clinical. I'm having day dreams of my new computer with fsx (since we have no patients for the time being.g, thank God...) and then I keep seeing your updates while thinking "lucky ######.. I wish I was at home in my boxers, crusing along at 380 on vatsim all while munching on hot cheetos" That would be the perfect Saturday and a day off for me at this point... Actually just a "day off" in general would be welcomed. Just finished reading about the PMDG 777. And yeah, jaw on floor... Can't wait to.pick it up. Chase Barnett
April 6, 201313 yr Weird, I can't find any information about that project elsewhere... No, it's very strange indeed especially when reading this... Satellite Scenery Europe is now available for sample and purchase ...and then looking when the post was made...in the middle of 2011. Stop with the pictures!!! I know exactly how you feel, have felt the very same things lots of times when I've been at work wishing I could find a way to get payed by my virtual PAX instead

Agree. If repetitive terrain stretched out all around you for miles at flight level is an annoying problem, then give FSAltitude a go. The transition between terrain and high-level photo scenery really isn't that bad. Most of the time the transition is obscured by clouds and limited visibility if you're using a good weather program like AS 2012. Even when the transition is discordant, it is less of a problem for me than the alternative - repetitive rural terrain at flight level.

I'm not really worried about the transitioning effect, what I'm more worried about is when flying in Europe during winter time but like someone else said it's very easy to temporarily disable FS Altitude during winter time if you want. Also I still think without even having tried FS Altitude yet myself that the positive effect it will give during spring, summer and fall weights in higher than the negative effect during winter time. Back to Sim Savvy for Europe I also found some info here -> http://simsavvy.flight-simulation.eu/ where they write about the new family in the Sim Savvy family...Sim Savvy Europe but when clicking the link to the sister site they point to I get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" error so maybe the project was abandoned...and now after looking around some more trying to find out the price for the US version I can't even find where to buy that one so maybe the complete Sim Savvy thing has been dropped...
April 6, 201313 yr OK, couldn't help myself any longer so I've now bought FS Altitude and truely looking forward to try it out hopefully sometime next week! Will let you know what I think.
