April 8, 201313 yr I have not flown over a canyon with MSE sceneries yet. The states I have are all along the eastern seaboard and mid-east states. Near Amarillo how did Palo Duro Canyon look? Also, what was your altitude, especially for the first two screen shots? I believe those areas will look better from a bit higher. Tell ya this took 40 hours to download the whole state. 3 sections. I was gonna explore the canyon, but was sleepy so I landed in Armarillo lol. Have to try El Paso area to see how the Mountains look, and Big bend Natl park. Palo Duro all go give it buzz next. Texas can keep me flying vfr for months lol.

I now have 16 states from NJ to Florida and Georgia, then Tenn., Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana, and back through Ohio and Pennsylvania. Then color in the middle. I purchased during the 20% or 25% off sale and spent literally a week downloading, extracting, and installing. I had to build a spreadsheet and update it at every execution in the process to keep track of my progress. I went to Jr HS in Amarillo. David Crockett Jr HS. I hiked Palo Duro often. Had to watch out for rattlers and coyotes. April 8, 201313 yr I have not flown over a canyon with MSE sceneries yet. The canyon country of the SW US is one of the areas where I think photo scenery really shines - and that's coming from a guy who's only a partial fan. Don't know how long it will be before MSE v2 stuff gets to the canyon country, but you can see lots of shots in this forum that have been done using Simsavvy or Blue Sky over the desert SW to get a feel for things. Also curious to see Palo Duro, and the Big Bend area as well. Blue Sky did a small chunk of Texas around Big Bend and it looks terrific. Scott
April 9, 201313 yr Author Gonna buy another hd just to back up MSEv2 as 1tb is not enough for portable one. Should make a spread sheet, but I download mse files on my computer harddrive once the full state is downloaded and matches the file size, turn on fsx hit the topview key to check the whole state is there, and then transfer the files to a portable hd. Once loaded onto the portable hd check it again with fsx to ensure no files missed and if none are missed. Then delete download files off the main system and rerun defrag on each of the drives its slow process. I found defragging your hd speeds uploading files a quite a bit. Think of having one portable 3tb be the main one and another be backup for MSEv2. Normally, I fly higher like 3000 agl or 2500 agl in my single prop planes. Just checking out Texas for the first time after 3 days of downloading. I opted to downloaded Texas rather than get 26 dvds.

Since you downloaded the whole state,do you mind posting a few shots of my land if I provide a Google maps link? That's the deciding factor of me purchasing even my new system arrives next week. April 9, 201313 yr You know..... Here are a couple of purchasing tips for these sceneries. I purchased two on a 25% off sale three or four weeks ago. I liked them, so I got serious during the remainder of the sale and purchased, downloaded, unzipped, and installed about 8 more states. About 10 days later I got a card in the mail with an offer good for 25% off my next purchase through the end of March. Also today I received an email from PC Aviator with a reminder of their 10% off Tuesdays. Looked at their site, and in addition to MegaScenery they also sell a wide variety of items (all 10% off on Tuesdays) including REX, TrackIr, Carenado aircraft, PMDG, Saitek, etc. etc. Then today I got another 25% off card from MegaScenery, good on my next purchase, and good through the end of May. If you are not too quick on the trigger you can save some significant $$$$ with offers like these. April 14, 201313 yr Quite the interesting field patterns in the second image! Those patterns are from what are called center pivot irrigation systems. They anchor at a central point, extend out as far as one mile. The central pipe stays straight as its length moves in a circle, spraying water usually from impulse sprinklers along the top of the pipe. As you can see from the patterns, some do not go full circle due to placement relative to roads, terrain, or patterns of adjacent systems.
