March 18, 201412 yr Hi Folks Identified a further 2 of the names, and really kicking myself for having forgotten. 2 off AOTD's have exactly the same name & target feature, as 2 off default freeflight aerocaches. However they have differing descriptions, difficulty & XP scores, piccies, and most importantly GUIDs. March 19, 201412 yr If you don't know, Paul, who else would? Great work. Now, to figure out the ones I missed! Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
March 19, 201412 yr Author Another one of my submitted Aerocache's that popped up today (Far Northwest Grain elevator) not checked off. All of a sudden I'm picking up a lot that I have missed. Now have 347, getting close. Steve
March 19, 201412 yr The master listing is still one off. I have 349 recorded and I didn't find the COE. I haven't had time to go through my list but one's hiding in there somewhere. Thank you. March 20, 201412 yr But, can you get them by setting your system clock ahead? Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
March 21, 201412 yr That actually is an interesting question... I'd guess that the server does some sort of time based authentication (similar to Windows Update), so that if the system time is too far off real time, it'll throw an error. That's just my speculation as an end user, though. Maybe Stonelance might have some information?
March 21, 201412 yr No need to speculate, just give it a try! I set the time back 2 days (last week) in order to get one I had missed. The Aerocache was present, I flew through, and did acquire it, but no increment in my profile. And the Aerocache was still present after returning from the Map. I flew through that one (the Hilo lighthouse) a half-dozen times in about 10 minutes. On the other hand, by mistake my system time was one full day ahead when that Hilo lighthouse came up, so my list showed the next day's Aerocache. I flew through it, acquired it, and had my Profile count incremented. So, maybe we can get the one to come, but not the one that has already gone by. Although more testing is needed to confirm. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
April 20, 201412 yr Like Rick, I also have a count of 349. I have a work in progress of rebuilding my list of Aerocaches. When GFWL required us to download an update to get online, I was not able to, so for about 3 weeks I was not able to logon. I knew I had this problem since last year, but it did not bother me until now. Long story short, I ended up having to reload my OS. This turned out to be a thing for me; I could now download the CCDlx and C-46 that I had purchased. Here is a copy of my work in progress, to use or abuse as you see fit! A very good day to all. April 21, 201412 yr Hi Folks Given recent posts regarding beliefs of 349 versus 350 aerocaches, (excluding "Curvature of the Earth"), I took another look at the Aerocaches last night. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- jpc55 - Cheers for you aerocaches listing. Abuse, as requested - Unfortunately there's a few errors in there - Iditarod 6 - (Rainy Pass) -> Doesn't exist/Counted twice. Correct name == "Rainy Pass". Komohio Bay -> Doesn't exist/Counted twice - Correct name == "Kamohio Bay". Between Upolu Point and Kamuela VOR's -> Doesn't exist -It was Freddy's descriptive text, which others copied to their lists. Correct name == "Kamuela and Upolu VOR" Kauai Waterfalls -> Doesn't exist - Is actually the "Bing clue" for all of Kauai's waterfall aerocaches. Lakoaka Pond -> Doesn't exist/Counted twice - Correct name == "Lokoaka Pond" . Missing from list -> 6 off identically named aerocaches. (See below). 1 off missing, "Waimouku Falls", (note different Description & GUID from "Waimoku Falls"). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My previously posted list had been extracted from an Excel Pivot Table. After posting, I'd realised it was by 'unique names,' therefore had dropped all aerocaches which had 'identical names'. I'd previously followed up about 2 of those 'identically named' aerocaches. On revisiting the spreadsheet last night, this time I compared names, descriptions, freeflight versus AOTD, and GUIDs (where known). Surprisingly, it looks like there were 6 off 'identically named' aerocaches. 4 off obvious ones, having entirely different descriptions and GUIDs. 2 off suspect AOTD duplicates of Freeflight defaults. April 21, 201412 yr Thanks, Paul. I shall consider your list as definitive. So sorry, no abuse today. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
April 22, 201412 yr Thanks Paul I knew my list was close, but there was a number of discrepancies as I stated. I was hoping to get a response like yours to get my list rebuilt. I had 2 folders of Aerocache information that I thought I had saves to another drive, but I came up missing one. When I reload my OS, I lost that folder so the list I posted was built from the information I had and what I could find on the internet. If I had not gotten this response, I figured I was going to have dig up the information the way you did. Thanks again and all the best to you and yours! B) Sincerely J.R. J. R.
April 24, 201412 yr Hey Paul (basys) Back at you, I have been comparing your list to mine, and I do not understand the ones listed as (DUPLICATE NAME). I have no aerocaches with the same name. Also I don’t see Mohihi Falls on your list, which by the way is permanent Aerocache # 6. If I go to, C:/Users/my name/AppData/Local/ Microsoft/Flight/Shared/UI/Aerocaches, it opens up showing me 2 pictures for each acquired aerocache, one showing a preview and the second showing a thumb. I have 698 (1 each preview/thumbnail) I have collected a total of 349 aerocaches. Please count yours and let us know what your count is? And a good day to you and all! J. R.
