I'd like to see dimmable cockpit lights. They're far too bright right now, and in reality- there's a dimmer switch that let's you control the intensity of certain light groups (panel, dome, radios, guages, etc.)>ATC could have more accents and even other languages. As english is used internationally across the globe in the aviation world, I don't know if there's a need for other languages, I'm not familiar with international flying, but in flight training, we've always been told that all airports in the world will speak to us in english.A fully functioning Garmin GPS would be nice as well, that thing's missing a lot of "pages" and functions. I feel I should atleast be able to program my light plan into it manually atleast if nothing else.----------------------------------------------------------------John S. May I add two simple wishes?- automatic shift of tower view to the airport where I am cleared to land. (I find it difficult to enjoy my landings from 1500nm away)- ability to view map without pausing the sim (to make up for my lack of navigating skills)Cheers,Phil

Performance improvement suggestions: 1) Allow Hyper Thread technology to be used. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------AI improvement suggestions: 1) AI aircraft can fly non-direct routes and use STARs and DP

Nice list there Kilstorm! I'd love to see many of those suggestions too. Especially the soundsystem needs a general overhaul with real 5.1 support and full soundsets for ai traffic, hugely improved environmental sounds to add more atmosphere to the sim.Another thing that hasn't been mentioned:-Sim supports realistic crash model-Sim DOESN'T stop on crash but lets you try to save the plane. Reset is done manually!-Emergency slides support-Emergency vehicles (firetrucks, ambulances, police)-Rescue missions (for ex. med-helo flying out people after car accident)cheers,:-beerchugClaudio

Not bothered about good aircraft (models, panels and sound) leave that to the community - both freeware and payware.A few of my suggestions (they may have already been mentioned)-Realistic flight dynamics or at least a better base where more detailed flight dynamics can be created by add-on makers-Realistic turbulence/wind-Emergency effects..eg. instead of just crashing in a heavy landing actually have the gear fail or snap and fuse fall to the floor and scrape along the runway etc, I know it sounds strange but would be nice to experience a failed landing attempt properly-Don't mess about the multiplayer so that add-ons such like the upcoming Squawk Box won

These are all really good recommendations. I second all of them.

I'd like to have the parking codes used for users plane. That way you would go to the terminal for the plane you're flying. IE UAL will park you at a UAL gate. Also, all runways active without using the star method. And being able to close off one end ie 31L at KDFW should be t/o only and not landing.

UT has done a great job of starting gate assignments. I just hope MS will work together with UT and Ttools on the next release so that its a step forward and not a back to scratch with gate assignments and simmers dont have to wait a long time on revisions to get where we are today. One way that would help would be if MS would include in the flight planner a choice of parking offering terminals, Cargo, and GA. Not actual parking spots but just areas would work for airports that arent set up with gate assignments using Ttools. A step futher would be once atc knows where you want to park instead of hear turn next taxiway after landing the twr would be able to say make your next left or right on a taxiway or like in real world once you've slowed to a taxi speed have twr tell you which taxiway to turn on, "Turn right on Bravo and contact ground on .7" would be very cool.

Awesome post Kilstrom! Here is my list:AI Traffic:1) Add a tool to import airline timetables into FS20062) Load AI traffic

Any light source, but most importantly the landing lights must light up the area and not put a silly looking texture on top of the ground textures!-effects need a big overhaul too! They look much too cartonish in fs2004.-new water simulation (3d-waves: frequency, speed, height and and colouring depending on weather, time and geographic location)With a new water engine like mentioned above watertextures would be necessary anymore!-underwater texturing for shallow waters (sand, corrals, reefs)Enviromental sounds:-realistic wind and precipitation sounds! (I want to hear a storm scream and the rain drops that are smashed on to the windshield!)With a general overhaul of the fs soundsystem, which hasn't changed much since the early days, would bring a tremendous increase in atmosphere and immersion to flight simulator. (as reference look how far other games have come with full 7.1 dolby digital surround sound support and highly advanced sound filtering and effects. Doom III is an obvious example)cheers,Claudio

I'm glad you brought up Doom3. Not only is the sound fantastic, but the graphics engine has set a new standard. Many techniques could be applied to FS.The shimmering effect from heat (Engine exhaust)Flashlight effects (Aircraft taxi/landing lights)Strobe and flickering lights(Airport, city, lightning, and aircraft lights)Pitch black rooms are modeled very well. In some rooms it

They should buy john carmack to do the graphics engine!:-lol He could put some cool wildlife into the dark forest too, heheIdeal for bush flying:-lol cheers,:-beerchugClaudio

Excellent post, hopefully MS will incorporate some of these into the next (or following) version. Myself personally, I'd be happy with the following;More realistic AI, and "alive" when first loading sim.More activity on the ground with support vehicles, and have "Follow Me" cars at the various European airports lead you to the gate (as well as AI) Marshaller's and docking guides at the gates.Fix the missing ATIS at several airports around the globe.A complete rework of the night textures in the scenery files. It's far too dark over populated areas. And there is no light on the ground where it should be at the airport terminal areas. And when there is a full moon, there should be moonlight cast onto your aircraft/scenery.If it's cloudy, there should be no sunlight shining on your aircraft!More realistic weather of course. I'd like to see cloud formations where if it's got a base of 2000 and tops of 20,000, it should look like that. FS weather, although improved this last release, still has a way to go before it looks like the real outside world.Could care less for any default aircraft, never use them anyway. They couldn't compete with the freeware and payware releases anyway.More accurate and detailed landclass scenery.SID's and STAR's in the flight planning.Tower views switched to next arrival airport automatically. If flying VFR, ATC should still switch you accordingly as in IFR to your destination airport as per your flight plan.A Copilot who actually flys the plane and/or answers the radio.More realistic lighting on the aircraft in addition to the above mentioned scenery lighting, to include light (strobes, beacons etc) being reflected off of the clouds, buildings, ground etc. I remember in FS98 we used to have at least the strobes reflect off of the clouds, although crappy looking at best by todays standards, it was at least there.I'm sure I could come up with lots more I'd like to see, but the MOST IMPRTANT THING I'd like to see on the future versions of FS, is an unbiased, honest review of the release by the various reviewers across the board in the community. No white washing, no "ooh's and aaah's", and no lies. Every single release has always been given the same type of review for fear of losing their free copies and endorsememnts from MS. Tell us all the things that are not only good about the sim, but all the flaws as well and the little quirks. We all would be better prepared for the many hours we'd have to spend in tweaking and enhancing the sim to make it work smoothly on our systems. So in short, stop sucking up to MS and give us the REAL scoop on the release. My 2 cents worth.
