December 6, 200421 yr I could agree to most suggestions mentioned above in the detailed lists of kilstorm and zclark. However, I also support some other postings which seem to concentrate on some major things. For me three (ATC/AI) things would already be a great step forward:- aircraft separation in and out of airports (with holding patterns)- speed restrictions (somehow connected with point one)- runway usage at all airports (non-parallel and crossing rwys)Walter
December 6, 200421 yr >-Virtual copilotThey supposed to do it in FS9 but it seems not having turned out yet... Unfortunately.>-2 players sharing same aircraft over a MP sessionDo you mean like having CPT/FO or flt deck / pax? Sounds cool anyways.>ATC coumld have more accents and even other languages. They already thought about doing that, but every voice package contains a couple thousand single WAV files that need to be recorded and edited. Furthermore the current voice packs have been recorded by FS team members. So for different languages you might have to record some WAVs by yourself... You might run into problems tho if your selected language has e. g. different word order etc.... Food for thought.Good points in general. :-hah
December 6, 200421 yr Great ideas, all of them I thinkVoice recognition I think is an especially good idea. One could then build lessons into the program regarding use of standard radio phraseology - a very important part of real world flying, and something that would greatly enhance the overall realism of the simulator experience.Other things you could do with voice recognition - file pireps and file flight plans inflight - also important real-world skills the simulator could help develop.
December 6, 200421 yr Great post...Some of my ideas. I don't fly the default aircraft at all, therefore I hope they don't concentrate too much of their resources on creating lots of new aircraft. A better idea for me is that they improve the base from which 3rd party developers can work.As with almost everyone else, ATC and AI improvments are a must.Part of my enjoyment of MSFS is virtual travel. From that viewpoint, I would like to see an improvment in the scenery. More landmarks, at least one reasonably detailed airport in most countries, better coastlines and buildings. Brighter land textures.Weather: I would like to see water build up during rain, and have that effect aircraft performance. Same with snow. Ice on lakes is an intersting idea.Another important thing would be to try and get the SDK's out more quickly, so the 3rd parties can take advantage of the new features.Cheers,Paul ( SPIM )PS I just saw that Lago ( cloud9 ) have just announced a new software ( ELBA ) that features animals on the runway.
September 17, 200520 yr Hello,I really hope someone at MS is reading all those wishlists ! We don't have the least idea about what is being prepared for us on the FS team drawing table... If someone has any insider info, any piece of real data, please post !In any case, here is my dreamlist:1) A benchmark module included in FS10. One of the big problems with FS9 is that everyone report problems and performance levels based on their own perception, I think we need something that is uniform across all the software and hardware configurations (some kind of FS specific 3DMark).2) A reworked autogen engine, with realistic landclass, streets, vegetation, objects and buildings management.3) Better utilization of hyperthreading and multi-cpus computers.4) No more shimmering or blurry textures. Better use of the antialias technologies, in objects edges and textures.5) Better texture definition and realism when flying low or on the ground. 6) No need to work with the FS9.CFG file, just give us a powerful control panel.7) Clouds casting shadows.8) Reflections on the water and wet runways.9) Better coastlines and realistic water effects.10) More varied and rich terrain textures.Time will tell.Regards,
September 17, 200520 yr I have a suggestion for the FS team: release FS10 within six months! Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
September 17, 200520 yr Just a thought, why not make a virtual world? - where pilot folk can obvisously fly, car folk, can drive/race around city streets, race tracks etc, maritime folk can cruise the oceans in ships, race speed/power boats, yaughts can race around the world. Also sporting folk could play golf, football, baseball, soccer etc. All this done in a realtime multi-player enviroment :-)Would be kinda cool to hover the helo over a power boat race or football game or something :-)-----Guess I'll have to keep dreaming lol Alaister Kay
September 17, 200520 yr Gee, such demands. Heck, all I want is accurately sloped runways with the ability to tweak if necessary. Most seem to be happy with the perfectly flat runways and I frankly just don't understand why. I mean think about it, it's a flight simulator. Some runways are basically flat but many others have quite a slope to them. KCRQ comes to mind. I am just having a hard time believing that there are so many other requests that come before accurately depicted runways. Scott
September 17, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I wish there was native support for turboprops. Also, maybe I am doing something wrong, but the Veneviveonnes Turbocommander 690B is the only plane I have come across that gets the reversers right. I press F2, if I advance the throttle I speed up, if I let go of the F2 key no reverse, if I hold down the F2 key it cycles in and out of reverse/beta. Native, specific flight modeling for helicopters.Support for more realistic flight dynamics, and controls that are not so sensitive. The ability to input waypoints into the GPS or flight plan anywhere, not just airports/navaids etc.I am not a R/L pilot, but in some sims EFIS equipped planes course line aligns with the runway when an ILS is tuned and in range. That would be nice, if it's accurate. The ability to pick different avionics suites for the same aircraft, much like pilots or airlines can choose in real life.Overall, more cockpit functionality. Not flushing toilets, but things useful for simmers.NO MORE DEFAULT PLANES; well not unless they have time on their hands after improving the ones they've got to at least the standard of the 172 after Realair got done improving it! Like a Lear that can start from cold and dark, or heavies that have high and low pressure fuel coocks. (Gets censored if you spell it right:-))This one may be way over the top, but what about cooperation between shells? Wouldn't it be nice if you had two different sims that you legally purchased, (don't forget Flightgear either) and were able to combine elements like scenery or flight models? Probably too much to ask, but it would be awesome.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
September 18, 200520 yr All I know is if they implement at least half of what all of you wrote, I won't be buying it. I can't afford a new computer to handle all of it :D
