What is the limit to the amount of camera views? I know a few versions back it wouldnt let past 115 I think. Which wasnt much when you have about 18 per aircraft.

There is no limit imposed. If you find a limit then email me your FSXSERVER.CAM file and I will take a look at it.

Thanks. Its gone past 115 now, so probably got alleviated from an upgrade.

In the past I’ve read here in the Avsim forums that REX and Opus complimented each other…sort of.

Installing both gave you the best of both worlds with REX providing the weather/cloud textures

After reading the release notes on the latest REX version and the latest Opus version, they seem to be moving closer to competitors.

I have both the FS9 and FSX versions of REX (before it became REX Essential PLUS with OverDrive).

My question is this; should I still buy both the new REX and the new Opus for the best results?

Doubling the cost of a weather solution isn’t my idea of fun but both products are very compelling.

I received the REX products when I was an Avsim reviewer so I’m not eligible for ant sort of reduced upgrade savings.

I have a lot of respect for Tim over at REX, and their team does phenomenal work, but at the end of the day, hearing from fellow simmers with experience using both REX and Opus will help my purchasing decision.

Also, Stephen, your continued responses to posts here really does say a lot about Opus's commitment to ensuring customers are informed. That really does mean a lot to those who place customer service high on their list of priorities.

Thanks

Philip

Might want to look into the new service pack for REX essentials as I luv Opus I use both but the new service pack looks like it addressees the weather engine so you will have to get more input as I do not use REX weather engine.

You can use your current rex textures with OpusFSX, or perhaps try the freeware hde textures, there is a link on our website. Try the OpusFSX demo or purchase with the reassurance of a 30 day money back guarantee.

We recommend the low res non HD textures since they are less demanding on FSX and in our opinion look softer and more realistic.

Thanks Cheryl.

Thats what I call excellent service.

Sunday responses within minutes of my post.

I'm purchasing Opus.

If every vendor had even a fraction of this level of service the world would be a better place. :-)

I have downloaded DEMO version 3.00.0, I use it on a standalone system, and I read some of the 'Live camera instructions' here. In 'Tips for Creating Windowed Views' on step 6, states that

'6. Another useful test to check you have a correct view setup is to load your flight then use the 'S' key to cycle through your view types. You should see (in the top right-hand corner) the following view types ...

Virtual Cockpit -> Outside View -> Tower View -> Aircraft View -> Custom View OpusFSX External View
(looks like there are 5 views)

before it then cycles back to the VC view.'

I have noticed that, whenever I tick 'enable Live camera control' in configuration, when I press 'S' to cycle views, the following views appear:
Virtual Cockpit -> Outside View -> Tower View -> Aircraft View : Custom View OpusFSX External View
There are 4 consecutive views, not five, and I have lost my 'Top-Down view' [default key F12].
If I un-tick 'enable Live camera control' then the F12 view is correct.

PS/EDIT: Just reading the Announcement (Apr 18th wip) in simforums. Maybe {b} solves my problem.

You should have Virtual Cockpit -> Outside View -> Tower View -> Aircraft View -> Custom View OpusFSX External View, four standard views and one custom view.

We don't reassign F12 but we added an external view after top down so the view sequence has changed.

Use 'S' followed by 'Shift-A'. After that you only have to press Shift-S to get back to the VC and S again for the top down view. Alternatively you can create your own top down view in Live Camera and assign it to another key.

N.B If you are using TrackIR then by default it re-assigns the F12 key to its center view function, other 3rd party packages may reassign keys too.

Cheryl

I bought the payware version.

Great weather !!!!

The problem with cameras sequence remains.

When camera views are enabled there is a -CameraDefinition.899- entry added at the end of every (I think) aircraft.cfg

Looks like import and export for cameras is still greyed out (not tried  beta version)

The buttons are greyed out because they are in the beta version at present.

The CameraDefinition has to be appended to allow Live Camera to work. There are severe limitations within the primitive FSX camera control. So the camera def is needed to create a controllable custom camera.

If you want to use the import or export options then you must download the latest beta. Please check out our Announcements topic in SimForums for details of the new features available and planned for beta. After a period of time, not too long, the current release version will be updated.

Your aircraft view appears to be hidden, check your config files and ensure CycleHidden is set to NO for the aircraft view.

Hi guys,

Can someone tell me if I need to uninstall the older version before installing version 3? The reason I ask is

I have not done any updates in months from a much older revision when I first purchased it. Thanks in advance. :)

Best, Jeff

Yes you need to need to uninstall the old version but leave whats left over alone then load the new version.
