New OpusFSX Release

Featured Replies

I just noticed that a new release version 3.00.0 is available for download. Are there release notes that say what's changed?

Thanks,

Barry

There are and I will hopefully be posting the full list on the web site soon. Just didn't have time yesterday. But here is the list ...

Changes introduced since previous release version 2.90.5 ...

Larger internal weather map, increased to cover 1280km x 1280km (800 x 800 miles).

New Met Station list including 8,320 stations around the globe.

Improved Weather Interpolation (WINTER) algorithm.

Added a 'Thunderstorms Require TS Descriptor' option.

Introduced a Dynamic Weather Theme size option.

Improved the Opus Weather Report details and the Addon menu options.

Introduced named TrackIR head movement limits for the camera definitions.

Introduced command shortcut button and key assignments.

Introduced a cloud smoothing option to help minimise local cloud changes.

Improved intelligent auto-cirrus calculations and cloud precipitation.

Improved cirrostratus and cirrocumulus precedence and conditions.

Improved cloud depths for all alto and cirro cloud types.

Improved upper atmosphere wind and temperature targets.

Improved forced recovery checks for stabilised winds.

Introduced three levels of intelligent windshear.

Introduced intelligent cloud icing data.

The above were all introduced in the betas leading up to the 3.00 release. We are also working on a number of upgrades indicated in the SimForums Announcements.

Stephen

Also you might be interested to know,

Work In Progress ...

a. Camera views Import and Export options and a 'Disable View' option.
b. Changing the camera cycling shortcut commands to cycle VC or Other view modes independently.
c. Extending the current Low Overcast Effect to higher elevations and altitudes.
d. Adding a Nearest Met Station weather report window to show the nearest 5 Met station METARs to your current location.
e. Graduated visibility layering at the top of fog layers to ensure a smoother change whilst descending into a fog and mist banks.

If item (d) works out OK we will also be looking to introduce a whole new class of Opus Weather reports to show long range METARs from stations listed in a user's flight plan or ICAO site list (see Wish List SimForums topic).

Feel free to comment in our SimForums 'Wish List' topic, we are all ears

Thanks for the detailed change list. I loaded it up this morning and it's working very well.

OPUS keeps on getting better and better.

I am so happy to have been one of your first few supporters (and quoted on your website) :)

I am very pleased with the progress OpusFSX is making. I hope someone will come up with a good tutorial how to program the views and cameras so that we could finally drop Ezdok and switch over to Opus completely.

Best regards,

Mike
