Canada foils 'al-Qaeda inspired' terror attack on train

Featured Replies

It is believed to be a planned attack on a Toronto to New York Via route. RCMP and FBI worked together on this one, so thanks to the authorities for saving lives from both nations before it could happen

Wow. Why Canada? They're so nice...

This is so stupid.

Most likely the target was a Toronto to New York train. So I consider this an attack on people from both nations, as well as any other nationalities that would have been on that train.

VIA operates that train from Toronto to the Niagara border, then AMTRAK takes over for the remainder of the route. This attack was likely going to happen on the Canadian side of the border. They probably thought it would be easier to do this in Canada. The two arrested are Iranian citizens and not Canadians.

This is the second time Canadians foiled a planned attack with the other being the "Toronto 18"

No we're not!!!

We are mean and vicious! :diablo:

Don't anyone dare do terror in Canada, lest you fall into our hands!

Kind regards,

Okay, let me rewrite what I said:

"Wow. Why Canada? Most of them are nice..."

It's aboot time the Canadians speak up for themselves here, eh? :smile2:

Good to see they stopped an attack that could have hurt people here and the U.S

For those who are wondering but too shy to ask, the train station is believe it or not, made of stone and bricks and the like. Not logs and ice. No doubt with a Tim Hortons close by lol

This is why we should all arm ourselves with Hockey sticks! :P

"This is why we should all arm ourselves with Hockey sticks!"

Hammer them into submission with a few slap shots, high sticking allowed and encouraged, low sticking may also be used with discretion. I just got the image of a small group of terrorists on a frozen pond somewhere surrounded by a angry group of locals who are all geared up for hockey. The locals pummeling the you know what out of the terrorists with slap shots, wrist shots and body checks until the bad boys are a quivering mass of tears and bruises.

Enough of that, I'm very pleased the suspects where prevented from doing anyone except themselves any harm.

Regards to all,

Mel

They could also lock them in a room and force them to listen to Celine Dion music for the rest of their lives...... :P

Or Justin Bieber.

YES! - A fate worse than death, and as great a deterrent as anything yet devised by the evil heart of man! :spiteful:

:canada-flag:

"They could also lock them in a room and force them to listen to Celine Dion music for the rest of their lives"

"Or Justin Bieber."

Now those two ideas are just plain inhumane. The only humane way to do it would be a Dion - Bieber duet, death would be instant. Kind of like Slim Whitman singing in the sci-fi / comedy movie Mars Attacks - alien heads explode when exposed to yodeling.

Best Regards,

Mel

Oh wait a minute. We were discussing a fate worse than death, . . . . Biber alternating with Dion on a 10 minute rotation, with Slim Whitman at the top of every hour. 24/7.

Can Muslims just stop blowing up stuff?

As most of them never started blowing anything up, it would be rather hard for them to stop, no? :)

You should try getting to know some Muslims, and you'll find out that they're people just like you. All the ones I know certainly are, and to the best of my knowledge have never blown anything up, despite a couple of them working in our chemistry lab :).

Well said.  People of all faiths have been involved in violence and terrorism but they aren't the litmus test by which those faiths should be judged.  Were it not for Islamic and Jewish scholars, much of the knowledge from ancient civilization might have been lost in the dark ages.  I can cite examples of people of every faith I know contributing to our world in great ways, peaceful ways.  That's always what we should focus on when violence rears its ugly head.  I don't wish to venture on--the mods have made it clear the forums aren't for religious discussion.  My viewpoint here is from a secular standpoint, even though I have my own faith.

Regards,

John
