Aircrafts with raineffects in VC(FSX)

Featured Replies

Hi!

Since I'm a sucker for rain, I'm searching high and low for aircrafts with rain available in VC-mode. I refuse to fly in rain with no actual windshield raineffects!

So far I've discovered(and purchased);

  • RealAir Duke B60 and DukeTurbine
  • PMDG J41

I know the Enigma 737-200 might include rain, but that's yet to be confirmed. I know one of the devs where working on it, but due to unfortunate circumstances, that have at best been temporary halted.

I've also read some releasenotes for the iFly 737NG that it should be there, but no one seems to bring it up in the reviews I've read so far, so I'm not sure wether this is an FS9 feature or if its also featured in FSX. No forumtalk about it neither...

Anyone know of other aircrafts I might have missed?

There's the excellent Lotus Simulations L-39 Albatros, but that may well not be your thing, looking at the aircraft you already have.

Actually, I've been thinking of buying a jet recently(been flying the default F/A 18, but want something a bit more complex/realistic) to learn the basic navigation on these aircrafts that seems to differ quit a bit compared to the aircraft I usually fly. Not too expansive either, so will definatly give this craft a closer look! Thanx:-)

IIRC the Milviz/Nemeth AW-109 has rain effects, but that's a helicopter, so it may not be your thing either, and its rain effects are definitely not as good as the ones of the L39!

Never been a huge fan of helicopters in FSX, I leave that kind of flying for DCS Ka50 BlackShark and Take On Helicopters:-)

Btw, I see you fly the iFly 737, does  that one feature VC-rain? It might be a part off the Addon Featue pack, but the iFly website seems to differ a bit from he resellers on that point...

To be honest, I haven't flown that one for quite a while(it's been more than a month that I spent time in the sim, anyways, and it won't be too much in the next days, as I got a few exams coming - and actually the weather is too good here to spend more time in front of the computer than absolutely necessary B) ), and even longer that I flew into rain with the iFly, so I may be wrong here; however, there are quite a few addons that have animated wipers but do not actually simulate rain on the windshield, so I am pretty sure the iFly doesn't do that either...

Yeah, I saw that one, but it was hinted that this video has been edited with Sony Vegas for effects. Whether that it included raineffects or just the lighting is not mentioned in the vid/text.

I know this aircraft uses the Flight1-wrapper with the 30-day refund policy, so I might just purchase it and see for myself:-)

There is also another vid (see below) which also shows rain effects.

Thank you, I'm convinced:-) Have to buy this for those rainy days here in Norway then...and use the PMDG when weather is good:-)

Flight1 ATR72-500 had VC rain in FS9 (and also wiper smear!) so I would presume the FSX port has it too.

All a/c in FS9 had rain, so I'm not too sure that it is ported into FSX. In 2D(with fixes), yes, but not VC. I have not tested it myself, so i could of course be wrong.

My CV-580 and my 732 both have custom rain effects.

Freeware=no risk:-) I'll check them out as well:-) Thanx!

FSX does not have windshield rain effects by default.

FS9 aircraft with VC rain effects will work in FSX too. You just need to copy the FS9 rain fx files across to FSX. Somewhere on here is (at least) a thread explaining how to do this. I fly the FS9 Plane Design Lancaster in FSX and the VC rain effects are pretty damn good.
