October 9, 200421 yr Justin has lots of 9m and 19m add-ons, which will now appear as 19m. Hawaii, for example, and a number of other specific sceneries. Other third party sceneries (Switzerland Pro, etc.) will also take advantage of the new resolution.Jon My blog
October 9, 200421 yr I don't know why MS bothered about this patch - except perhaps to shaft the NoCD users.Fixed Autogen performance degradation: - I don't use autogenFixed Seasonal Crash to Desktop: - never had themImproved Digital Elevation Mesh Support: - don't have 19 meter mesh (except for Yosemite)Replaced Missing Landmark Bridges: - never flown in areas with missing bridgesAdded Autogen Objects to KJFK Satellite Photo: - see aboveFixed Multiple Sporadic Crashes: - well who knows if this will change anything?Fixed the Incorrect Check Ride Certificate: - not an issue for meImproved Support for Matrox Parhelia Cards: - not relevant to meFixed multiplayer support: - not relevant to me.There are just so many other things MS could have done to make FS9 a much better product that this very limited effort is quite disappointing! Iv'e downloaded this thing but unless subsequent posts reveal some dramtic improvements can see no point in installing it.Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." October 9, 200421 yr So don't install it. No-one will care.I have installed, FS seems better although I haven't used it much. My No-CD patch still works just fine.
October 9, 200421 yr The website on the tips for installing say not to copy over the new exe. Are you saying the old nocd patch works well?"" DO NOT copy back any old version of the FS9.EXE file. The FS9.EXE file had updates made to it that correct CTD issues. ""What are CTD issues?
October 9, 200421 yr CTD = Crash to Desktop Where is the location of FSUIPC 3.4. ? I can only find 3.3...
October 9, 200421 yr No CD patch still works. I started and ran FS9 from the old shortcut and everything worked.
October 9, 200421 yr There has been more that 1 1/2 hours and the installer didn't finish yet. Is it normal?
October 9, 200421 yr I didn't install the patch yet but you should be able to still use the fs9.exe nocd currently since it is just a small loader. All the modules of the sim are separate so it SHOULD work fine.Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif
October 9, 200421 yr yeah but how sure are you that you will get the full benefits of the patch. I tried both ways and found that when using the no cd crack my active cam will not work. Not sure if the auto gen thing will work correctly or how the patch it to work it if youdont change back the fs9.exe file.
October 9, 200421 yr This from nickw's site:"Some install tests on my systems have been seen to look like they have stopped installing, when in fact they are working, but slowly. This happens on some machines, but not others. Walk away from your machine for a couple of hours and come back. Some other people have reported waiting a few hours for the install to complete."Greg
October 9, 200421 yr "yeah but how sure are you that you will get the full benefits of the patch. I tried both ways and found that when using the no cd crack my active cam will not work."The update should be installed with the default FS9.exe placed in the root FS9 folder. But after the update is installed the no cd .exe can replace the "new" FS9.exe (be sure to save this in a safe place).Greg
October 9, 200421 yr First one:The install can take a few hours on some systems. I have seen this on a couple of test machines. However, IT WILL work :)Second:In regard to this whole discussion about the FS9.EXE and copying back the hacked EXE... well... It seems that some cannot be convinced that the new EXE has changes that improve performance of the game stopping some CTD issues. But, if you are going to use the other hacked EXE... so be it :) I, nor others will be able to convince you not to.
