May 25, 201313 yr Commercial Member I wonder which will be the first flightsim to show clouds and precipitation such as this picture... As far as I know, it's never been done... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
May 25, 201313 yr I agree.....Storm fronts never look like this, it also doesn't display rainfall: Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
May 25, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member Wouldn't that be something? Just as cloud shadows but XPX already does that, doesn't it? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
May 25, 201313 yr I would like to see a weather engine that displays particle effect shaped clouds rather then photographic imagery of clouds. Particle clouds would look more realistic and you would be able to fly through them. Rain could be simulated with translucent particle falling from the clouds, so you could see it in the distance and fly through it as well. A weather engine like that would probably be heavy on the computer power. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
May 25, 201313 yr This is why the the clouds that we have will stay as they are in the sims. http://ofb.net/~niniane/clouds-jgt.pdf Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
May 26, 201313 yr Microsoft Flight didn't have storm fronts that I can remember, but it did make an attempt to show rain shafts in one of the weather themes. The effect wasn't finished, but was going in the right direction, at least. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I tend to seldom use the more "active" weather themes, as being flung all over the sky in a light plane is usually too wild to really be enjoyable for me. We are all connected..... A weather engine like that would probably be heavy on the computer power. The sim that has come closest to simulating the look and feel of entering, flying through and exiting clouds for me has been Wings of Prey. As you enter, you see wisps of cloud flicking by your windscreen, then you are in the soup and rain droplets appear on the windscreen. Then you break free of the clouds. Cloud shadows also exist in Wings of Prey. You don't see the rain streaking down from the sky though--haven't seen that in any sim. John
May 28, 201313 yr You don't see the rain streaking down from the sky though--haven't seen that in any sim. John The closest to that is Pablo Diaz. But, because of the way clouds are generated that "cloud shape" sometimes appears in the wrong place. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
May 28, 201313 yr Did anyone play Metro Last Light ?? one should really check out the weather engine in that game, The level of immersion is absolutely mindblowing, especially the rain drops on the gas mask visor... you will be blown away... will FSX ever come close ? :(
