AVSIM / X-Plane forum growing FAST!

Featured Replies

To really cater to the X-plane community IMHO there would need to be a XPAVSIM.com. Right now Avsim has too many forums/subforums and let's be honest this is a FSX/PMDG centric board and everything else is extra. I'm only starting to really see that there is an entirely separate universe where X-Planers hang out and they have a large footprint of developers large and small. XPs user base can be as ravenous as the most hardcore FSX'r and not to mention the Linux/Macaholics. Just thought of it all in one place seems like a recipe for disaster. Just my Opinion and I've been wrong numerous times.

@ arsenal82

They certainly will not all shift.

Fact is, many do visit AVSIM as well , and certainly not all X-Plane developers are present at the other website you mentioned.

@ oshirus

I really do not share your worries.( nevertheless we take notice !)

On AVSIM we have all sorts of forums for various simulators, for many years now.

When I came to AVSIM , years ago.

It was not for MSFS or PMDG.

I came here for FLYII AND found everything I needed.

We could say AVSIM is "the house of SIM" , simply said the place were we can find almost everyting we simmers need.

Developing a strong X-Plane department at AVSIM is keeping AVSIM a contemporary sim-site.

Keep in mind the reason for opening this topic is the fact the X-Plane -part of AVSIM is growing so rapidly.

I am not saying other sites will be obsolete and AVSIM will take their place.

I do predict AVSIM wil be an important X-Plane forum too.

How big and how fast .............time will tell.

I'll say one thing, the atmosphere in the XP forum is certainly more positive than in some of the others. That's one of the big reasons I hang out in here now.

I strongly disagree. I am told that one of our major "other sites" has instituted a separate "landing" page (read "front page") for X-plane as you suggest. We are not going to do that. In my opinion, those kinds of things as you are suggesting continue the divide that exists between simulators, users and our various pockets of fans. Our respective communities, across ALL simulator platforms needs unification for the benefit of the hobby and those that provide for it. It does not need further division, "us versus them", etc. AVSIM has always striven to be a true "community", not a FSX only, X-Plane only, etc. etc. sim site. And that statement has proven true for over 16 years - starting with support for FLY!, ProPilot and too many others to even remember.
