July 2, 201312 yr I took the plunge and purchased the PMDG 737 ngx addon. I installed it and the plane shows up in the flight plan screen. However, when I select it the box pops up for the registration code. I enter the code and then the computer goes to a blue screen and then crashes and reboots. It has happened every single time. I am running windows 7. Any idea how to get this to run?
July 2, 201312 yr Author Perform a crash dump analysis. How do I do this? I am not very computer savvy.
July 2, 201312 yr Download microsoft windows debugging tools. Install ... Configure the symbols in the debugger, and load the memory.dmp file in the debugger.. It is a bit much for a newbie to do, but the only way to be sure what is causing the crash. Or email me your memory.dmp file and I'll take a look at it..

July 2, 201312 yr I would uninstall it, run a registry cleaner, then reinstall the PMDG 737. It sounds like you are having an issue with registering the aircraft. You have to have an active Internet connection. If you have an anti-virus program, it might be prohibiting the transmission of the registration information. Also, make sure you have installed SP1c. If this does not correct the problem, then I suggest you register with PMDG and submit a problem ticket with them. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! I've been working on this for the past several hours and have made zero progress, which is frustrating given the amount of money this product costs. The crash occurs and computer resets right when I submit the registration code. If I enter the wrong code it tells me I entered the wrong code and asks me to reenter again. It always occurs the moment I click the button to submit the registration code on the flight plan screen.
July 3, 201312 yr Agree with Nick but you received a BSOD and that's unusual. I would download and run BlueScreenView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html. It will provide you more information about the crash(es). You can pass this information to the PMDG Support Team. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! July 4, 201312 yr Author Unfortunately, PMDG is telling me that they think I have a problem with my operating system and that I have to reinstall windows etc. I can't even get my image disc to work correctly to do even this, so it looks like I just wasted a lot of money buying software that is unusable because I can not get by the software registration requirement.
July 4, 201312 yr You might try running one of those freeware scanners to update your system drivers first. I use Driver Scanner and you can run the program and it will show you if you have any outdated system drivers. If you do, it will offer to download/install the drivers but you'll have to purchase and register the program first. Some who are Internet savvy could look at the outdated drivers, run a Google check and download and install the drivers themselves. I run my scanner at least every two weeks and it finds new drivers. Manufacturers are constantly updating their hardware based on bugs found in previous editions. Just a thought. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! Before I updated I was getting BSOD's quite frequently, fortunately I haven't had one in a while.
July 4, 201312 yr Author I think I updated all the drivers. I noticed one of my microsoft security auto updates kept failing and I ran some malware and antivirus programs which resulted in some stuff being cleaned up. However, I think my system was corrupted so after my custom image disk kept failing halfway through the download I decided to use my old windows disk and just reformatted and reinstalled windows. This seemed to be the only viable fix based on my research of what the blue screen was spitting out. I am hoping this resolves the issue. At the moment I am redownloading FSX and then I will make the changes outlined in the PMDG instructions and attempt to install the plane again. My computer was sent to me and it was already overclocked. By reinstalling windows I don't know if I undid the OC and if so how I can fix that. I really do appreciate the advice from you all and wanted to thank you for it.
July 4, 201312 yr By reinstalling windows I don't know if I undid the OC and if so how I can fix that. I really do appreciate the advice from you all and wanted to thank you for it. The OC will not be harmed when reinstalling Windows as that is all done in the BIOS. Sorry to hear you are going through the painstaking chore of reinstalling everything but agree it is the best option. Let us know one you get it back up and running. July 5, 201312 yr Author After reinstalling windows and wiping my hard drive I managed to get rid of whatever virus my computer had. I am able to load up the pmdg 737 and am now learning different aspects of the plane. I have had two crashes already while flying which gives me a fatal error message and causes flight simulator to reboot. Any idea what could be causing this? Its definitely something connected to the pmdg plane as I never had this issue with FSX before.
