RW pilots opinions please

Featured Replies

would like to hear what you real world pilots think about using virtual 3D cockpits instead of the 2D cockpits, gererally speaking ofcourse. i'm aware of the cockpit detail not being as good sometimes but i'm not to concerned about that. i posted something along these lines a week or so ago but now would like real pilots opinions. thanks! william

It is all personal preference.I don't really use 3d at all-for me-a clear, smoother working 2d view-with a real bmp photo look out the side views is a more real experience than the 3d. I also don't like the slow jerky scrolling every time I need to look somewhere. That said-again that is my personal preference. I am sure you will find just as many that feel the other way.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I never use the 3D cockpits. I like the 2D much better.

Yep, same here, I never use virtual, 2D panels are more realistic.

Ditto to the above

Same here, I prefer the 2d view. Mainly because of the level of clarity, contrast and smoothness which the 3d cockpits still can't provide.cheers,Claudio

Yup, 2D for me too!

2DThey are far more accurate in respect to the full picture of what you focus on while flying that the 3D or

I never use the VC either. The 2D view is far easier to use for instrument work. And it looks better too :-) .

Hello All, Ditto for me too, sometimes I like the view of the VC, but for actual flying, it's 2D all the way for me . . .guess I'm just old, huh?Clay

Add me to the list for 2D preference. For instrument flying, its the only way to go and far sharper/smoother for any other types of flying. I guess I'm also "old fashion" in this respect!Larry S.

I don't think it is a RW vs. non RW pilot but I will make it unanimous...so far. I never fly 3D.

Are all you guys pilots or what???I'm a real world pilot and I never use the 2D cockpit. I have to use 3D for circut practice around my local airport. I fly a Cessna 152/172/182... I could never have the freedom to scan the skies like in real life usind a 2D cockpit... Nor can I plane a proper approach setup using a 2D either (enter the pattern and fly the legs to final). I have to be able to look around the cockpit and the sky. Geofa mentioned low pan rate in the 3D cockpit... You need to go into your FS9.cfg file and adjust the setting. I can't believe all you guys responding to this are actaully real world pilots... :-hmmm

I tried the excellent PMDG VC for the first time two days ago. The view was great, but my frames went into the pits. Add me also to the list 2D ONLY from now on.Bob
