Elevator Trim Wheel Constantly Rotating

Featured Replies

Evening all.

Just having a a problem with the Elevator Trim Wheel. It is constantly rotating, adding positive pitch. I've tried various things to stop it but to no avail.

I have been reassigning key commands to my joystick so may have cocked it up somewhere.

Anyone got any ideas??

Thx

What controls are you using?  Joystick, yoke, pedals, trim wheel?

You might try resetting the controls to defaults if you have been playing around with assignments, this might clear any improper or odd assignment.  Go into the  OPTIONS>SETTINGS>CONTROLS to reset.

I'm using an X52. I have already tried resetting the controls to default but it made no difference. I also change joystick and it also made no difference so I'm stumped!!

Check the AP isn't on.

Which aircraft?

Quite sure it's not a issue unique to P3D. More to to with improper CG due to fuel and or payload. Or perhaps Joystick assignments etc.

The trim wheel simply will not move without input from an external driving source such as an autopilot. Something has to be sending one or more of these commands:

ELEV_TRIM_UP
ELEV_TRIM_DN
AXIS_ELEV_TRIM_SET
ELEVATOR_TRIM_SET

Hi,

Had that problem with FSX some time ago. For me it turned out to be another hardware device I had plugged in (Futaba Real Flight Radio Controller) that is used for my R/C helicopter.

Hi, I found a parameter in fil Prepa3d.cfg in the section [REALISM] "AutoTrim=True", i change this to "False"... testing now...

To find the cause I would disconnect all (USB-)devices from your computer, start P3D and fly it by keyboard and mouse to see if the problem is gone. Then add back your devices one by one.

Solved!!! open the file prepar3d.cfg in the section [REALISM] change dhe parameter AutoTrim=True to AutoTrim=False.

Doesn't work for me. AutoTrim=False and still after takeoff the trim wheel goes crazy. After some time I can stabilize it, but the first 2-3 minutes after takeoff are almost uncontrollable. Constantlyh fighting and extreme tendency to pitch up. Depending on the aircraft, it may be impossible to control (i.e. in a Maule I can eventually stabilize it. In an F35 - forget it.)
