It will be on pending updates so don't worry, if you need it, it's there. I reckon p3d 1.4 and possibly 2.0 will not have collision with this update. It's not a vital update.

Yeah, and I guess the guys writing new driver versions are aware of this update too and know many people have uninstalled it and thus will make sure to tell you if it's needed again.

Just to warn others...I tried uninstalling this update (KB2670838) and after doing that I was asked to restart my computer which I did.

After restarting my computer I ran Windows Update and checked for new updates to see if the update I just uninstalled would show up in the list of available updates and if so my plan was to hide it. This didn't happen though, the update didn't show up but instead I all of a sudden had an optional update which was IE 10. I found this very strange since I already installed IE 10 before but I thought sure...go ahead and install it again then so I checked the IE 10 update and clicked the install button. However the update failed with an error code 9C59 and no matter what I tried I couldn't get around this problem. Luckily enough I was able to restore my computer to a restore point created before I uninstalled KB2670838 and after my computer restarted KB2670838 was back in the list of installed updates and so was IE 10 and now when running Windows update no updates are found and all seems to be good again...puh...

I guess this reminds me you should never try to fix something that isn't broke and to anyone else reading this thread make sure you have a good restore point before you try uninstalling this update if you decide you would like to give it a try. Of course this could have been some issue with my computer/Windows installation and maybe it will work just fine for most people but I do try to always keep my computer in a very tidy and clean shape so be aware...

Don't worry about it, it happened to me too, it's because of how the update stream goes. In fact, if you just let it update, it will auto-install that KB again. You really not in for trouble, because I was suggesting that out of experience of installing and uninstalling the kb couple times. It's currently not installed in my system. Plus, you don't use IE, do you? ;)

Good measure to do system-restore before changes though.

It's worth remembering that these tools (SweetFX, etc..) use code injection to do their thing (the same way viruses work), so all bets are off the second you start updating libraries that they hook into, as data or functions could move or be changed completely, breaking the hooks and causing all kinds of problems.

The issue is ultimately not with the update, but with the fact you are attempting to use a tool that uses very advanced techniques, and wondering why it breaks when the libraries it was designed to work with are changed. Tell SweetFX people to update their code to work with the updated libraries.

Best regards,

Robin.

True. Uninstalling KBs is a temp solution. They must update their dlls and that will truly fix the problem.

I ditched SweetFX yesterday, realised that I tweaked it like 50 times so far, lost too much free time on tweaking it then on flying. So, I'm using now SPENDID very bright mode on my ASUS + adjusting color correction in nvIdia CP (brightness + contrast). The result isvery similiar as with SweetFX.

I remember that I used some app couple of years ago, when you can adjust brightness and contrast in 3D apps (games) in realtime assigning global commands (ctrl+F5 for example). Can't find that app on google, can't remember the name either. Maybe it was Powerstrip, but I believe that I didn't needed that app.

Can someone recall the name of that app, or even name some other app for adjusting brightness & contrast in games in realtime?

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

ENB and FXAA work great, until I fly with the NGX.

Guaranteed crash everytime.

If someone is using one of these with the NGX, I'd really appreciate an explanation of how you got these two addons to work together.  TIA

That's strange, I'm using SweetFX and haven't had a single crash.

Same here.. ENB used to give me grief..but not SweetFX

The only issue  I have with SweetFX in DX10 and opening 2D Panels give me grief by kiling FPS. But still no CTDs
