Imagine KDEN

Featured Replies

Hey guys anyone purchased this scenery of Denver yet? What is it like and how are the frame rates. Always nervous of trying out the demo's as they don't always give you a full picture of frame rates.CheersSmiley

Never heard about this group before, but KDEN is an airport I'm really waiting for. The demo is very limited as there's only a small part of the main terminal and one runway. No way judge about the performance, the textures look very realistic and familiar - I would say good old Simflyers style. NO money left since the ATR was released but if it turns out to be good we'll see ...Toby

Just like Simflyers...Not up to German Airports+Sim-Wings/Aerosoft standards...Cal is a very talented airport designer but a poor texture artist (needs to out source this task)...his textures are just too fuzzy, I expect sharp photo-realistic airports these days just like our current aircraft.

Well, judging from the screen shots it looks like there is a lot of detail in scenery, but it doesn't capture the feel of Fly Tampa or OSS. Why? It's all about ground texturing. The ground texture looks generic. Something that almost can be done with AFCAD. If you look at the best freeware and payware airports, the ground texture is superb. That's what makes the environment believable, and the blending of the ground texture into the buildings, surrounding default area, and other objects seemless. Good examples are all of Fly Tampa's sceneries, KSNA by Shez, or KBOS by George, and to some extent, KPHX by SimFlyers. Otherwise, it just looks like buildings plopped down on the default landscape. Okay, maybe even good, but not what many paying customers would hope for or purchase.

However, judging from the screenshots, this scenery has something I have been waiting for a long time - correctly rendered runways with tire marks concentrated heavily at both ends and almost none in the middle. This detail has been always missing from other custom airports.About ground textures - lets not forget that KDEN lies practically in the middle of a desert plateau - so ground textures (whether they are custom or default) look very good for the area. And about building textures being "fuzzy" - again, judging by the shots, I don't see any more fuziness in main terminal buildings than in FlyTampa products.EDIT: I took a close look at the ground textures. They are definitely NOT default. Just look how they 'interact' with airport facilities and how they 'flow' around runways/buildings.I never heard of "Imagine" until today but I must say, based on screenshots alone, their product looks very good.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

How are the framerates? I'd gladly sacrifice some quality for an airport that I could use regularly. And looking at the screenshots it seems to have all the bells and whistles. billg

I hope you are not asking me because I don't have it. *:-*I might addd that ground textures may be precisely the high point of this scenery. There is a lot of detail. Now, looking at FlyTampa's SFO scenery - the grass between runways is way too uniform and "nice". The grass on SFO grounds is certainly very "weathered" and with lots of bare patches.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

O.K. what gives??? :-hmmm I've been trying to access the site given by Avsim to at least see the preview pics of this scenery. The site has been down with every attempt I've made since Avsim first posted the link (this at work and at home). How in the world are you guys accessing the site much less downloading the scenery. Is SimMarket selling the scenery on their end or do I have a firewall issue here???Thanks for any help you guys can give.... :-roll
