Fuel Planning

Featured Replies

By the time that you have trained to fly the PMDG 777, PFPX will be available to support your fuel planning. Trust me!

Cheers, Richard

Release for PFPX is currently scheduled for end of August, so we should be grand on that front... Max a couple weeks without it for the T7.

So with that method you have to enter in to the CDU all the waypoints, altitudes, winds before you got a required fuel figure?
If it takes 45- 60 minutes to fuel the aircraft that's a lot of time hanging around waiting. You would be able to go through your flows and checklists much faster than that even single handed!

You don't have to wait for the plane to be fueled if you don't want to.  You can instantly fuel it like the NGX.

To be honest, absent PFPX, you're not going to get a better number than from the plane itself.

Further, to whoever said TOPCAT:

That fuel estimate isn't to give you a valid number to use.  It's there to estimate how much weight in fuel to give you takeoff numbers until you have a better value.  It doesn't take into account the wind, holding, longer distance alternates, and so on.  For the 737 and its route pairings, that's not a huge deal.  In the 777?  Yeah, that could cause some issues.

Ronan, sorry to change the topic, what happened to the FSLA320?

long time ..

PMDG forums ain't exactly the place to discuss it, but it's currently advancing at a rapid pace, with features being added like the new time, systems being fine tuned etc. Plenty of features that've never been seen before in FSX, you could try and guess some of them but you just wouldn't be able they're that unthought of. When you get it you'll realise just why they're playing their cards close to their chest, it's got some unthinkable features that others would kill to have, and once previews start in earnest, you'll probably kill to have too.

I know there's been a bit of frustration about them not showing previews but they're certainly making progress at a rapid pace and you can take my word that what they're managing to do will blow everyone away, a lot of it can't be show, simply because it's not something visible, it's going on in the background, but you'll feel it and experience it when you get it.

I can safely say it'll be the most accurate A320 for FSX out there, the devs are an amazing bunch witha real passion for it and they're assisted by a fine team of Technical Advisors, from Pilots to Engineers and Cabin crew as well as Beta testers with an incredible knowledge of the A320 and it's systems. The team has a lot high quality resources available to them, from manuals, company memos, maintainence manuals, construction manuals, as well as graphs [inside joke] and particularly diagrams of an extremely technical nature that have only been seen by a select few on this planet... [/inside joke]

I can't say much because of the NDA, but if you want to talk about it more, the FSL forum is the place to go, best to keep this space for the PMDG 777 and PMDG in general.

U could remove my comments sorry

I actually appreciated the question as it was nice to have an update here because I don't go over to the other forum at all.  As it was only a quick aside, I don't see why anyone should remove them.

...not that it's my place to say what should stay or go.  Just stating an opinion.

Glad I could help and shed some light for yee. More than happy to anytime with the confines of my NDA, but the FSX forum is probably a better suited place than here...  ^_^

Towards the end of the video....what is that unlocking Navigraph part about? I know what Navigraph is, but I dont know what Simbrief uses it for.

Simbrief is Navigraph updatable so you will always have the most up to date waypoints in the system.  So you will never have any issue with the system not being able to draw a complete route for you.

Ah ofcourse,I understand now, thx.

I would like to use Aerosoft for Nav data in the future.

Do you know if that can be used as well with Simbrief?

I'm on the vACA beta team for the system and as of right now, no,  Just Navigraph.

Ok thx for that info.

I used to use Navigraph as well.

It is good, but when I bought the "Airtrack App" for Ipad, and needed Navigraph for its database, I found out that after 2 months the entire database becomes expired and is deleted! (thats is not the case for Aircraft FMC databases by the way. Once bought they dont expire.)

I cant support somthing like that so I have been looking into other options.

If Navigraph for Simbrief works like Airtrack App (with tookens I think it was called) then that is a NoNo for me.

I haven't experienced the need for tokens with Simbrief.  It's like any other aircraft,  It will use the data that is installed.  You can either use the outdated AIRAC that is default with SB or you can update and use the dates for which you are flying.

The current AIRAC is 0504.  I'd update before use.

Ok that is good.

It seems the tooken thingy became necessary for Apple Apps only.

By the way, you said you are on the Beta team for Simbrief.

Is that for update purposes?

Because I was under the impression from the video that Simbrief is a finished product.
