Fuel Planning

Is that for update purposes?

No.  Simbrief went beta with Virtual Air Canada's beta team obviously then it went public.  It's not that complex.  It was short.  Some features are yet to come but as long as you have an updated AIRAC you will be fine.

This is a nice programm so far. Updated airacs works perfectly just need to insert the unlock code. Would be curious if the  ZFW and fuel calculated are in base of the number of passenger inserted or it cant be chaNged. THen i didnt see the option from LBS to KG. But it is a really interesting programma with lots of informations. Great work

Until PFPX is released, I've always found FSBuild to be very good for fuel calculations.

Ró.

I second that, I did a 2 1/2 hr flight yesterday in the NGX and was within 200kg of my planned fuel burn at EDDM not to mention within 2 minutes of scheduled landing time, FSbuild is awesome when it comes to flight planning, its all I use.

I haven't experienced the need for tokens with Simbrief. It's like any other aircraft, It will use the data that is installed.

Hopefully you can clear this up for me. On the bottom of the navigraph page, in reference to the SimBrief AIRAC, it says:

"Contrary to other FMS Data files, access code are limited in time. An access code will enable use of the current AIRAC cycle during the current and the following cycle."

This to me means, use the current cycle 1308, for the period of 1308 and 1309, then go back to the default SimBrief AIRAC. Is this correct?

Oh Oh  :-(

Yep, I just looked at the Navigraph site.

That is exactly what I meant, same as with AirtrackApp!

And thats why I asked if Simbrief will work with Aerosofts database.

Too bad, I cant use Simbrief after all then.

No way I am paying for a database that gets deleted after 2 or 3 months!

Wow!!! Yeah... Not gonna happen with me either. I can use my old AIRAC all the time I need with my addons.

I have not updated the AIRAC cycle since i got my JS4100. Exactly how much does this matter?

It matters because as a controller at CZYZ I see so many people we label as n00bs because they are filing totally incorrect flight plans and wanting to fly to fixes and airways that just don't exist any more.

You should really update your AIRAC.

Hmmm OK so that's what you meant by tokens.  OK.  Well i just paid $3 for the current cycle.  Let's see what happens after a month.  I'll report back.  I'm also going to write the SB creator an e-mail and see what the deal is. Seems like a step backwards from what VAC was doing before.

I'm guessing the deal is that SB either isn't going to or isn't allowed to store the data from each cycle continiously (so anyone who ever bought one will always be able to build flight plans based on that data set).  Instead, based on the interface in place, I'm guessing that Navigraph keeps the current and last cycles available on their servers and SB queries that data remotely, and once they are no longer hosted, back to the base AIRAC cycle.

However guys once I activated the data, I got an e-mail from SB saying to retain that e-mail in case of a server loss.  SB e-mail came with a separate code that I can use to re-activate the data.  Separate from Navigraph's code.

I'm interested to hear how it works.

I emailed with Navigraph about the subject a while back. (a year or so).

It was for the Airtrack App FMC database for Ipad.

They confirmed that after 2 or 3 cycles (I forget) the purched database is deleted and cant be used anymore.

The App would then only have the database it came with (from 2006 I think).

I told them I thought that was unfair, but they answered they were not going to change it for now but that they appriciate my opinion.

I even started a poll on the Navigraph forums to see if others would support my opinion, but nobody cared.

I think the reaseon is that most use Navigraph for aircraft FMC databases, and they do not expire ever once purchased.

Or at least that was how it was in the past, hopefully that has not changed for those that use Navigraph.

Trouble with that app(FSBuild) is it's old and no longer updated.

Why do you think so? last update is 2.4.0.24, and from June 2013, and it has now Navigraph AIRAC.

I think that fsbuild is one of the "most have" for any good FS pilot(for Commercial airliners), and as Scott said most of its profiles are user generated.

I've gotten to the point that I just screenshot the flight plan and email it to the control group's list.  I've seen several relics come up from time to time.

Even better are the routes that make no sense, like an arrival from ATL using a STAR meant for arrivals from NY...
