ok so I thought I would post a comparison shot of the difference between a 17" 4:3 screen and the screen size I am achieving by my 1080p projector,

 

you can probably understand why now I cannot go back to a monitor even if I had the dell 30" screen!.

 

 

The only downside I see from the picture is that the already low resolution ground texture really looks bad with the projector. The runway and the plane seems to hold up very well. You are very lucky. :rolleyes:

it is not as bad as the photo shows because I took it from a mobile and the room was dark so it looks washed out.

Oh yes, a projector is a fantastic bit of hardware for FS! Mine is packed away at the moment due to space constraints, but when my house renovations are complete I definitely plan on setting it up again.

For my former cockpit I used 2 projectors 1024x768 each for one wide screen ( 2 m / 6 ft 8 inch ) .

Compared to my current 3x 1680x1050 monitors ( 26" ) it was not sharp.

 

Using 3 HD projectors however will make it look very nice.

I had a Dell s300 was not too happy because of the resolution and couldn't see the numbers in VC but this 1080p projector is a huge difference.

A projector is always less sharp as the image is being blown up much more than with a monitor at the same resolution.

 

An image with a resulution of 1920x1080 blown up to 6 ft 8" is 10 times less sharp than 1920x1080 on 17"

The pixels are 10 times larger...

 

I remember reading somewhere that for best use of projectors for Fs the width of the image had to be not larger than the pixels /10 in mtrs.

Eg : 1920x1080 would be max 1.92 mtrs ( 6 ft 5 " ) wide.

my image is about 3.3M wide and absolutely love it, when I taxi onto the runway you feel that sense of being there as this huge runway comes up upon you.

Had the same on with my setup.

On the ground nothing would beat a projector.

Thanks. I agree, sharpness with a monitor is unbeatable, especially high resolutions like 2560x1440, but the projector is awesome for the feeling of being "in-there". Thanks for the video.

The problem with monitors is the bezel in the way. Like this, I could not stand the bezel!
