August 29, 201312 yr Lately I was playing around with a weather radar extension for my moving map. After some headaches, doubts, sleepless nights etc, I came to a solution that - within the limitations of FSX - correctly depicts both precipitation and convective cells. Here's a couple of shots: Gray and rainy: Major thunderstorm: Heavy snow: Now, I'm really no expert on weather radar and wondering which features/limitations of real world weather radar you would like to see in the sim. A classification in must have / should have / could have would be nice too. --------------------------- Blue Skies, Gottfried www.blueskyscenery.com

August 30, 201312 yr This looks awesome. I still don't know why developers don't do this... Yeah it's not COMPLETELY accurate, but you're not flying anyway, are you? August 31, 201312 yr Author If it works with Opus, I'll buy it. I see no reason why it shouldn't work with any weather program. Weather programs inject weather into FSX and the WX radar reads it from there. So, it should work fine. This looks awesome. I still don't know why developers don't do this... Yeah it's not COMPLETELY accurate, but you're not flying anyway, are you? It's already very accurate. Rain and convective cells are displayed accurately. --------------------------- Blue Skies, Gottfried www.blueskyscenery.com

A classification in must have / should have / could have would be nice too. Can you make it overlay with an existing ND (PMDG NGX/777) and make the functions on the EFIS, weather panel work? There was a previous hack to make reality xp radar work with the PMDG NG (FS9) http://www.mythicalireland.com/other/planes/flight-simulator/PMDG-737-weather-radar/PMDG-737-weather-radar.php Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
