September 24, 201312 yr I should also pint out the volume will of course be adjusted automatically depending on the strength of the turbulence. Stephen I fly with live cam all the time now and one observation I have is that at low altitude during approach I some time encounter a sudden shake of the cockpit which I think is really nice as it seems like i was hit by a short turbulence burst. I am looking forward to see if your sound for BK will react according to the visual shaking amplitude of the cockpit. So could I say that your sound volume is dynamic in such a way that it synchronized with the amplitude and pace of the cockpit XYZ movement? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
September 24, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member Yes, the sound volume control will be synchronised with the DHM control so hopefully you will feel the turbulent bumps in the seat of your pants. The volume level will be adjusted to reflect the current strength of the turbulent motions with a sudden increase during a turbulent bump. The user will select the XYZ data set and preferred base frequency, the control software will adjust the volume level to mimic the rest. I will also try and mimic the other DHM effects such as taxiing and landing. Stephen
September 25, 201312 yr Hi Stephen, I did another test. This time I play the BK100 wave file with media player while taxing on the ground. The BK100 sound came right through mixing very well with the engine low rumbling sound. This is done without isolating the BK100. So I think even without a client play back romotely, it is already working pretty well. So please include option to playback your dynamic synchronized sound locally for people who do not have a 2nd pc to connect to BK. This is going to be fantastic! Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
September 25, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member I will do just that. I will allow the user to select the whatever audio output and base frequency they prefer. I will give as many user selectable options as possible. We are also going to check out using a dedicated USB SoundBlaster device to separate the BK sound from the FSX sound. Have to be careful about what I promise at this stage but we will provide whatever options are achievable for users with single or networked systems. I should be able to allow you to select preferred base frequencies for the different phases of flight. Taxiing, landing, and in flight turbulence. Just in case different frequencies are more suited to different effects. Anyway it 'sounds' very promising. Stephen :-)
September 26, 201312 yr Hi Stephen Another idea came to my mind is that there should be some secondary sound effects that is induced by the XYZ shaking. These secondary sound should not affect BK as it is a sound produced by the aircraft's parts shaking due to turbulence, taxi, reckless piloting, etc. This is very much like metal creaking or some loose parts rattling. I got this idea from the BK as the kicking in BK make my swivel handle of my chair to rattle violently whenever I touch down and roll down the runway. This sound should have variety based on the type of aircrafts you are flying. I feel that this will make the XYZ shaking even more realistic. Just an idea and hope it make sense to you. No pressure for immediate implementation. Cheers. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
September 26, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member We have been asked this before but its very difficult recording the actual sounds. For almost all light aircraft you don't actually hear anything at all, its completely drowned out by the engine noise and of course you are normally wearing a headset, even a noise reduction headset, so no ambient creaking or other sounds. Some aircraft (e.g. the Realair Lancair Legacy) do have their own recorded sounds, breaks squealing, canopy, etc.. I have it down on the list, its just the recording that would be very difficult especially since its impossible to hear anything but the engine noise normally and airliners are full of noisy people. September 26, 201312 yr This all sounds very interesting. Ordered my ButtKicker today. Robert Robert Chartoff
September 26, 201312 yr Stephen, sometime in the next 8 hours i will try out the beta sounds you posted and report back. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 27, 201312 yr are these files streamed as i find it hard to play them. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 27, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member They are just standard wav files which you can play with Windows Media Player. Just right-click on the file and select Save Target As then save to your own drive. After that double clicking should automatically play the wav file. Stephen
September 27, 201312 yr ok i will try it again, i did get it to work but not continuously whatever I heard was very good! I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 27, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member Best to Save Target As and then play the wav file locally on your system. Try the different base frequencies, you may need to increase the volume until you can just hear the hum. Stephen
September 27, 201312 yr yes I did download them they come out great with bk it would be great if opus can synchronise the turbulence effects with buttkicker I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
