September 1, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member I do have a few questions since I don't have one yet. 1. Does the BK respond to both the audio signal's frequency and amplitude? 2. Can the BK be driven from the audi out or headphone output of a laptop? If the answer to 2 is Yes then I could provide users with an option to use the audio out from a networked OpusFSX client. Stephen
September 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member Stephen, I am pretty sure the answer to both questions is yes. Mine is with a friend at the moment whilst I am away, I hooked it up to his laptop for movies using the headphone output and the provided splitter. Awesome idea, this is just what I am looking for. September 1, 201312 yr Ok, to clarify, if your headset is USB connection, butt kicker will not work as the sound out is a complete mute when u plug in a USB headset. My gut feel is that for opus turbulence to be effective, it is worthwhile to explore channelling the Opus turbulence sound to the Center/LFE of the sound card. Do note that Center/LFE is a mono output port, Buttkicker do no provide mono cable so user need to get a Mono-to-Stereo cable convertor to connect to Center/LFE. So if Opus turbulence(or touchdown, vibration sound) can be channel to Center/LFE, it will be perfect! Just a thought, correct me if that is not possible. The current issue I have with buttkicker is the it is picking up all the low frequency sound from the engine sound, so when I am having a turbulence or touchdown and taxing, the shaking from the buttkicker is not distinctive. With the opus live cams I can visually see the magnitude of the aircraft shaking distinctively based on the situations I am in, turbulence, touchdown, taxing, but buttkicker shaking is almost the same throughout. Hope this helps in the design consideration. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile

September 1, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member I am looking into either using a separate output sound device and/or providing an option to use the audio output from a networked client computer or laptop. That way the output can be wired into BK and it will have no adverse effect on the current simulator sounds. It also makes it easier for users to set their systems up and I would hope BK will just use the wired sound input and not the ambient sounds. The OpusFSX client can be configured as a 'No Connection To The Simulator' type so doesn't need FSX installed. Stephen

But if you could isolate to center/LFE it will be more convenient for people with 1 computer. There is a way around this though I suppose you talking about using Virtual audio cable, I haven been successful with that. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
September 1, 201312 yr I have to use a splitter out of the sound card - They provide a splitter with the unit - one side for your headphone and one side to your buttkicker, the only way I have gotten it to work. Once you have one you will luv it. Another thing I have noticed is before touchdown you may want to turn the effect down or you get a violent bump in your rear end lol due to the fact that flightsim was developed way before the kicker came out so its not totally realistic hence the bit of fumbling with the intensity in certain situations for example the outside view will have more effect than inside aircraft. September 1, 201312 yr "With a non-usb headphone right" Definitley Lee - good point - I have a sound blaster sigma 3d tactic pretty good for the price. Rich Sennett
September 1, 201312 yr I also use the splitter with Sennheiser 360 headphones plugged into the onboard sound system. I also use it for games other than FS. I have Opus on a non-networked system.

Do you have separate holders for all the yoke and throttle? I am searching for metal structure that I could screwed to my arm chair that can hold the joystick so that my joystick can have the shaking effect from the BK. Nice setup you have there with 3 BKs. I only have one so I am looking for ways to have my joystick shake together by more economical ways https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
September 14, 201312 yr Oh, this is going in an interesting direction!!! I use OPUS in two computer configuration and would really think having buttkicker configured through the client, specific to the OPUS DHM/turbulence signals would be excellent. Really watching this progression. A side note, and, not to highjack the thread....but, Clutch Cargo: I would really like to know more about your buttkicker setup. If you wouldn't mind contacting me by PM with a description and perhaps pictures I would appreciate it. Regards, Danny Danny
