FSX - Track IR/Ezdok? and some other questions

Featured Replies

Hi,

Would you consider TrackIR5 or EZdok with FSX...this wkend saw a bunch of videos on youtube and both seem awesome...price difference is quite noticeable and wanted some views before i decide.

Also, I am quite new to FSX and was wondering if any classics like the RFP 747-200, Boeing 727, DC9, Aeroworx King Air work on this system...if so, can you give me some links as to who produces such packages please.

Finally, any idea if virtual.cargolux.org is still alive?

many thanks

1. it's not TrackIR "or" Ezdock, start with Ezdock first (it's a must have), and then TrackIR, they work together beautifully.

2. I am not a big fan of the CLS 747-200. I do not think it comes close to the systems in depth simulation of the Ready for pushback version

3. I can highly recommend the Coolsky DC9 for FSX.

4. i am not a big fan of the CaptainSim 727 although it looks nice.

With emann's permission, don't mean to hijack your post, does Ezdock allows for the eyepoint to dynamically move in any direction?  By eyepoint, I mean not zooming, for example, like walking on the ramp towards the airplane while at the gate.  If not Ezdock, is there a better solution?

Yes EZdok allows "walking" etc. It's a very good tool (I personally couldn't fly without it now) but it does have a steep learning curve and developer support has all but vanished, so be aware.

no problem re asking further questions....

so shall try ezdock as well then it seems...

but what about ready for push back 747-200 and and 727s for FSX?

tks

I already have EZdock but just have a few questions regarding TrackIR.

1. Does trackIR cause any loss of framerates?

2. Does it work correctly with VSync + 1/2 refresh rate, or don't these NVIDIA Inspector settings get applied to trackIR?

Ok thank you for your input. The reason I asked is because I recall people reporting choppy motion when moving in FSX using TrackIR. So I thought, perhaps it's not possible to apply your VSync + 1/2 rate settings from Inspector to TrackIR, because it is a standalone program. But according to you that's not the case, so just to confirm again: if I have VSync smoothness in FSX, will I have the same smoothness when moving my head using TrackIR, and on the contrary when I have low FPS in FSX, I will have low FPS when moving with TrackIR? In other words, the smoothness and framerate of TrackIR fully depends on the smoothness and framerate of FSX?

Trackir smoothness does depend on a consistent frame rate.  On my pc if I can maintain 30fps then smoothness is maintained whilst panning, but if the frame rate starts to fluctuate then panning can become slightly sticky.

one other thing on ezdok...in fs9 with active camera, i can pan around the VC using the middle button of the mouse and then moving the mouse in the direction of pan....is this possible in ezdok and if so is it easy to set it up...

i looked at coolsky dc9...incredible this is what i am after more than anything else it is aircraft systems....which other packages would you recommend that have this kind of detail...especially classic aircraft.

tks
