Throttle problems

Featured Replies

Hi Robert

Well good news at last.

1.  I disconnected my goflight throttle from the USB Hub and all of a sudden my single throttle on my CH Yoke started working.

2.  Re-connected throttle and placed the goflight config file on another drive, once again yoke throttle was working, so there is an issue with the goflight throttle.

3.  Did the action that goflight gave to Gnacio that didnt work.

4.  Removed Goflight software from PC and re-installed again, tested 777 again and once again throttle on yoke works, next I connected goflight throttle and once again no go, throttles jumping back

     to idle.

5.  Made a new config file just for the 777 and removed the goflight throttlle settings,  at last that worked, the single throttle on the yoke works perfectly no springing back to idle.

6.  Replaced the config file with the old on and added the 777 my other two aircraft that I use in our VA came up ok apart from the lights on the 767, so have just re-installed the settings

for the lights on the 767.

At last I can start to use the 777 in our VA, we are doing trials just now so that was why I was getting frustrated with PMDG, I so wanted this aircraft to work.  Thanks very much for

your suggestions, at least now I have a working 777 all be it with on a single throttle controlling the aircraft, thats a heck of a lot better than I had before, I can live with that tilll PMDG

bring out the SDK, goflight state that as soon as they get that they will make new drivers.  Sorry if I sounded a bit nippy on here but you can understand my frustration with the 777.

Believe me, I feel your pain!  Congratulations on getting things working!  I have been where you are too many times to count.  I still have a very small issue with the plane starting in hectoPascals instead of inches on the Baro, but I can deal with one extra knob turn during pre-flight.  Like you, I had some real issues and concerns with the THROTTLES.  Coming up with a DEAD ZONE at the lower end of my Hotas Warthog in the Windows 7 calibration window was a bit challenging, but I believe I have accomplished my goal.  Lowering airspeed well in advance of your final approach is KEY on the King Kong airplane.  Come in to fast and you might as well call the tower ahead of time to set up your missed approach, cause you WILL miss it.  The plane is pretty easy to fly, but it's like it's little brother, the NGX, in terms of it doesn't slow down OR speed up very rapidly (as Asiana found out recently).

What's nettlesome is that the PMDG 777 is all by itself a high-end SIM, and it 'lives' in FSX.  Getting two complex creatures to play nicely together is a bit of a task, as we all found out.  Some of us learned the value of a FULL SYSTEM BACKUP yet again, and the wisdom of SEVERAL backups so you can go back and forth in time and find a setup that was working before you did something in an attempt to fix one problem that actually caused another (or several other) DIFFERENT issues.

That said, I regard the PMDG aircraft to be the finest available at any figure for the home enthusiast, and the NGX all by itself brought me back from the darkside of X-Plane 10 to the FSX world.

After joining Southwest Virtual and flying my beloved NGX all over Southern Calif- of course PMDG releases the King Kong of airplanes, the T7.  Would have been fine when I flew for American Virtual, but I became persona non Grata with them when I thought they were acting like little children and said so.  The upper management didn't appreciate my candor.  So I moved over to Southwest and never looked back.  Southwest gives me full credit WHETHER OR NOT I fly 'online' and they will accept Vatsim flights _OR_ PilotEdge flights with equanimity and grace, something many of the other VA's will NOT do.

It really bugs me how some people seem heck bent on exerting their VIRTUAL power.  Funny thing is, threatening me with 'termination' just makes me see red.  Would I like to return to AA Virtual under different circumstances and fly the T7 all over the globe?  Sure.  Will I do it?  No.

We work for hours, nay, days and weeks to make our flight deck as 'real as it gets', going through myriad tweaks and adjustments.  When it's finally time to fly, I want the guys on the other end of the paper trail to be on MY side, and check the heavy-duty attitude at the door!  With nearly 600 hours on FSX/Xplane, I don't need someone to be my daddy, even if THEY think their title makes them a Virtual God, I know different.

PS:  Bruce,  I don't know if the USBDeview.exe program I posted would help you in terms of blowing out all of your USB port assignments and clearing any conflicts automatically out of your registry vis-a-vis USB devices.  It certainly has helped me a number of times.  Again, I might be reluctant to try such moves now that you have things 'working' well enough to fly.

In my own world, I would likely run a full image backup (I like Acronis True Image 2014) at least two of them on two different devices, and THEN I might experiment with the USBDeview to reset all my usb devices.  PM me if you have questions.

Here's what I did.  I contacted John at Goflight.  He instructed me To set the throttle, flap and spoiler levers to  no action in the GF Config setup, leave the reverse function to same.  Then I went into Windows control panel,  device and printers, TQ6 joystick, right click on that and select game controller settings, then calibrate all the levers.  This useful if you have your setup in FSUIPC.  Then follow Roberts advise above for the rest of it.  I was very frustrated myself.  Thanks to all in this forum for their help.

I just thought I'd add my 2 cents in here.  I use the Saitek Yoke (with TQ) and 2nd TQ.  I have it running correctly.  The same process applies to the Go Flight TQ6, with the added step to NOT ASSIGN any controls in the GF Config, leave them blank. The throttles are set through FSUIPC in the following manner:

1 Load Aircraft to be configured

2 Open FSUIPC

3 Select Axis Assignment

4 Select Type of Action Required

Send Direct to FSUIPC Calibration

5 Cycle Levers through idle to full throttle - should get the following numbers: -16384, idle to  16383 (approx), full throttle - you might have to check RESCAN if this doesn't work the first time.

6 Select action from drop down menu - # 1 Throttle or #2 Throttle

Go to Joystick Calibration

Joystick Calibration

1 Cycle each throttle lever through range.

DO NOT CLICK ON SET OR CALIBRATE JOYSTICK FURTHER.

2 Check ExcludeTHROTTLEn_SET (lower right corner)

3 Click on OK.

That's the throttles set, now for the reverse thrust which is controlled by a switch on the Saitek TQ by pulling the levers through idle detent, activating a switch/button, or the separate thrust reversers on the Go Flight TQ6

1 Go to  Buttons and Switches

2 Check

Profile Specific and Select for FS control

3 Push throttle lever down past detent or for GF TQ6, pull reverse lever back to stop.

4 Select #1 or 2 Throttle Decr from right side menu

5 Parameter = 0

6 Check

Control to repeat while held

7 Select Throttle 1 (or 2) Cut under

Control sent when button released.

That's all there is to it. Throttles and reversers set for the T7 or NGX depending on which aircraft you have open.

Forgot to mention, uncheck/delete all Throttle and Throttle Decrease settings in FSX under Saitek Yoke, Saitek TQ or GF TQ6

If you're still having problems and you have manually changed the FSUIPC Ini file, delete the file and start over.  You don't need to do anything in the Ini file

Hi Rob (mounty)

I know this is old post, but thought to give it a try weather someone would be able to help me out. Im having the throttle issue after I changed from my saitek throttle to TQ6. Before that, the throttles worked fine, now I have the same issue that everyone else had. Throttles snapping wildly back. I followed these steps, and at first everything looked fine, however, I have another problem.

When advancing the throttles, I get normal readings and can start taxi, however, I cannot move the levers to idle anymore. They are left to approx 27% which means that in the end, my T7 is taxiing like mad:)

Another issue is that I cannot get full throttles. If I advance the levers to full power, I get something like 80 % or so. I believe this is because the range in the axis is 9400 and -12743 instead of your 16383 and -16384.

Any advice how I could tackle this one?

Cheers

Thomas
