Thanks Dutch and you too Travis. Have been a long tome user of FSC, and is one of my favorite addons.

Downloading latest FS Captain version - updated this very weekend - now ...

I tried the demo, and was getting a black empty gauge, where the Interface pop-up was supposed to be..... (Yes, I was definitely at one of the demo airports :wink:).

 

I tried to get support for this but faced a brick wall from the developer, despite a couple of helpful people here trying to help.....  the idea of the product really appealed, but obviously I wasn't going to purchase it while getting a black blank gauge intead of the FMC GUI......

If we did not resolve your problem, my apologies.  I reviewed my emails for the last month and the support forum and and didn't see the thread but I'm happy to start again. We do try to provide support to everyone, whether they're purchased or are doing the demo.

 

The "Black rectangle instead of the gauge" is most often caused by a security issue, where either Windows or a virus protect program is blocking execution.  Sometimes it's caused by the installation going bad.  This thread on the forums covers the common problems and their solutions:  http://fscaptain.proboards.com/thread/1167/fcom-fcdu-window-black-rectangle

 

If that doesn't resolve the issue you have something "special" and "unique".  But the vast majority run the product without problems so I'm sure we can figure out and solve yours.  Give us another chance and we'll do our best to get you going.

I am going out on a limb here and venture that the gauge-less ACARS should be ready for public beta within the first third of October.  And as always, FSCaptain public betas can be used by both customers and trial users.

 

But we're not going to stop trying to get your lack-of-an-ACARS gauge sorted out by then...

Thats great news TravisG about the gauge-less ACARS,  I've owned FSCaptain for quite some time but only stopped using it around 6 months ago after my new PC build.  I just couldn't'; be bothered doing all the panel installation stuff again in the complex planes like the MD-11 etc

 

Will be keeping an eye out for the beta of 1.5, that will get me back to using this again.

Just keep an eye out for our next version - it may be numbered 1.4.6 instead of 1.5.0... it depends on what can be queued up to be included.

does FScaptain incorporate FO duties such as flaps, gear up etc, I enjoy using Fs2crew because of this.

The only action that the FSCaptain FO can take (but only if requested) is to handle the seat belt signs.  The FO will set the No Smoking sign at the start of the flight if it's not turned on, but its up to the Captain to toggle that to signal ready for takeoff / landing.

 

The FSCaptain FO will advise the Captain that it seems to be the time to raise the flaps and gear... or to lower the gear for landing.

 

Dutch has pondered giving the FO the ability to handle the gear (or to fully raise the flaps) but no customer has strongly expressed this as an option yet....

 

Do know that there is the capacity to specify per-aircraft the weight / flap speed values for V1/VRef/V2 and Vapp, so having the ability to express "flaps up" or to automatically retract flaps is possible on a per-aircraft basis.

 

Otherwise, the FSCaptain FO is present to let the Captain know of various required actions to take ("Set landing lights," or "Check landing lights are off," or "Crossing transition altitude" for example).
