Well, if those are in fact from the canceled CFS4, they do look very good for an alpha/beta stage. Hope FS10 has something similar...and coded to optimize performance as well.

>>>Well, if those are in fact from the canceled CFS4...>>Given the profile of the poster, believe me they are...>>Alex>Profile says only he's from North Carolina...Even if it claimed he worked for Microsoft, that means nothing even if true.I can make a profile that says I work for Microsoft even though I don't, there's no way the forum software or operators is able to check it...Edit:and remember that the CFS and MSFS lines were separated with CFS3, so you can no longer say what one will be looking at the other. Also don't forget that Microsoft employees will be under strict orders not to leak material. Any material that claims to be from products under development or cancelled is therefore automatically suspect and anyone posting it claiming to work for them almost automatically lying one way or the other.

>The release of a patch which is also unheard of is itself>slightly worrying.>Why is that then?

> >Hope FS10 has something similar...and coded to optimize>performance as well.<>>Let us hope there is an FS10 ? as correct me if I am wroung>but there hasnt been a definative affirmative.>Indeed, and with the attitude of bashing anything the MSFS team produces they must be heavily demoralised...>The release of a patch which is also unheard of is itself>slightly worrying.>oh? First it's not a patch at all. The version number and size say that clearly as does the official website.Second, FS2002 was the first version where there was no update/upgrade/service pack roughly halfway through the product lifespan, so you're clearly making things up as you go along to make a case out of thin air.

The version number and size say>that clearly as does the official website. The MSFS team ought to be demoralised by the quality of FS9 when it shipped. The autogen crashes, the wrong interpretation of downloaded weather in Europe (not fixed in 9.1 btw). The official Microsoft FS site says: -Addressed slow frame rates for flights repeatedly in and out of a common area. Frame rate decreases have been corrected by fixes to Autogen scenery behavior and memory allocation. - Addressed product stability issues that were due to changes of season in particular airport environments. Users will experience stable and consistent behavior when changing the time and season across any of the airports at any level of scenery detail. - Addressed additional product stability issues tied to various features throughout the product. Now you can call it an update but these 'update' items are clearly describing memory leaks and software errors. Most of these errors where known a month after release of FS 9. Fixing an error in software is not an upgrade it is a Patch / Bugfix. Only Microsoft calls it an upgrade and also Microsoft likes to add some extra features to cover up the bugfix thing.>Second, FS2002 was the first version where there was no>update/upgrade/service pack roughly halfway through the>product lifespan, so you're clearly making things up as you go>along to make a case out of thin air.FS2002 fits in Microsofts current policy not to upgrade/update but to offer a new version to sustain their cashflow. Upgrades/Updates are useless because they only cost money and get you nothing in return. My guess (and yes it's only a guess) is that Microsoft is almost sold out of FS9 boxes and they are on the verge of releasing a second run with FS 9.1 (budget?) boxes (like the el cheapo FS 98 now on sale). Going budget means an increased audience and it makes sense to fix some glaring easy to fix bugs so the support lines get an easier time with the newbie FS customer.I also think that the longer it takes before FS10 is released the harder it gets to make FS10 groundbraking. FS9 now has the largest payware add-on library of all the releases. A late release FS10 has a lot off pressure on it to be fully backward compatible with the FS9 add-on library. And an accurate world scenery / high class aircraft enhanced FS10 would have to go head to head with the add-on specialists so you get an 80 Euro FS10 being compared with FS9.5 (FS9.1 with 2 or more higly specialised add-ons) that has cost more than 180 Euros but its mony already spent and the add-ons tend to be in the area where the users interests lie.For example:I do some GA flying with the Real Air SF260, Scout and Decathlon.I do the airliner thing with PMDG's 737I supported MAAM by buying the B-24 and R4D-6 and fly these great pieces of history.I do my flying mostly above Germany enhanced with:German Airports 1German Airports 4Scenery Germany 1Scenery Germany 2Can you imagine FS10 with world data and aircraft surpassing that? The most probable scenario is more eye candy better weather, ATC, autogen and AI, Slightly beter world data and slighly improved aircraft. Its a hard sale for FS10 which by that time likely will need a beter computer in order to get the added features running.

Hi Jeroen,Well,...you have always been a man with words,..haven

We really shouldn

Hello All,Interesting screen shots, to say the least, however, if or if not there is a FS10, 2006, 2008 or whatever, I guess we will have to wait and see.I do know this, if there was not, (and I doubt that is true as MS DOES make money on FS), we would all find a way to get along. The aftermarket developers who work in FS are some of the most bright boys I've run across in a long time. They would find a way to use the new computer tech that is coming down the line. Import better scenery for FS, aircraft, and programs. And someone, someplace is probably right this minute, working on one or two programs which will solve the majority of FS9's built in problems. We've got our sites to download from, our payware experts who do really nice things, our files, our original FS disks, and you can even still buy it in the stores . . . SO WE WOULD SURVIVE AND FS WOULD CONTINUE TO GET BETTER.It may not ever be like watching Discovery Wings in visual quality, but hey, it isn't THAT far away now. Considering where all this started with Sub-Logic, we've come a long way, my friends, and I for one am most appreciative for all that EVERYONE has done to improve our great hobby.Don't sweat the small stuff, people. FS will survive one way or another -- and continue to get better. Rome wasn't built in a day -- I hear it took at least a year or two! Best to all and fly safe, or hit reset before you crash!Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"

Interesting scenery shots. Looks kind of like the Helicopter scene in 3DMark 2000 (late 1999) which would be a *huge* step forward for FS :)I never understood why FS9 is limited to 256x256 scenery texture tiles that are less than 50kb each in the age of 256MB videocards. Autogen density os also obviously improved and the trees no longer look like 2D sprites a la Doom2. Love the city scenery as well - finally "3D scenery" rather than just a 2D texture with some buildings randomly placed everywhere. I mean, FS9 improved autogen placement considerably but it still doesn't look integrated enough.
