The Next Version of Active Sky

Recommended Posts

Official HIFI Forum are here http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/forum.php and the status of ASN have been updated. As2012 is huge in download, if no graphics needed , ASN is the one.

I'd love to register for the AS forums, but it appears that you have to have one of their products to do so.  So ASN is different from ASE?  Okay. I see that it's "in the trenches" as of 9/28, which was yesterday. So I guess I'll be waiting until it's released. I subscribed to their newsletter, so I'll be watching my e-mail for news of release.  The one thing that intrigues me is why there is no mention of this product on their Web site.

ASE was released before As2012, ASN is the newest and complete different then previous wx engine released.

Yeah, I finally figured that out. Now all I have to do is wait for it to be released. And pay for it. $$$???

I've been waiting for this for years... Besides this astonishing achievement, an interesting feature would be to add an option of "variable winds" on the approach, because wind rarely is constant on the approach.

Thanks,

With previous versions of Active Sky, I was able to run the main AS program on a second computer, with the actual weather injection into FSX being accomplished over the network via sim connect. Since it sounds like the upcoming version will be hooking FSX processes and DLLs to achieve the new effects, I assume that the entire program (or at least part of it), will need to run on the same computer as FSX itself? If that is the case, will it use a small-footprint server-type interface on the FSX machine - kind of like that employed by the Aivlasoft EFB - permitting the main program with maps and graphics to be networked?

ASN can be run on a network.

It also has a small "footprint" for those who do not run on a network.  :)

Amazing work on the upcoming next version of AS. Now will FS9 users be stuck with Evolution or will there be some work on trying to incorporate some of those new cool features to the FS9 engine? I know that the FS9 community is still kicking strong and would love this added realism. Im still loving active sky with FS9.

The screenshots are incredible, maybe we might see something close to the weather engine which XPX can offer in the FSX/Prepar3d arena.

And just when I thought I had settled on which weather program to get I read this. Looks like I might just get 2 weather programs as this one appears quite worth it.

Here's to hoping Hi-Fi continue supporting P3D and move this puppy over to V2!
(Also, hoping Hi-Fi is one of the Devs working with LM!)
