October 9, 201312 yr I moved from 3 x 22" (DELL UltraSharp) monitors using TH2GO to a brand new LG 42" HD TV running 1920x1080. I was not satisfied with the resolution (for example, gauges were not sharp enough for my liking). I purchased an ASUS 27" monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. I'm very satisfied with the resulting quality of the image. JJ Jean-Jacques CYND, Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
October 9, 201312 yr I fly at 3150 x 1680 under Eyefinity uisng 3 DELL 1920x1200 all in portrait mode Native res is 3600x1920 but that is a frame rate killer, So the only other res I can get bezel correction done is 3150x1680, which is more than enouogh In XPX I only use a 2x AA which is passable . Frame rates are high. In FSX with FTGX I have 4xAA, 16XAN but I guess FSX takes ovet he AA/AN anyway you play it. Fps is fine at medium custom airports like CYYJ and KSFF, meaning 14 on approach I get user-constant 22 fps elsewhere At KLGA or KBOS I suffer and have to reduce settings, otherwise only AG is down one notch. LOVE IT cant fly the F1 B200 without it, get to see the whole cockpit in HD, its a beauty NOTE the camera CANON res is LESS than the res on the screens so it looks blurred but it aint Note, I removed the plastic cassings of all three DELL leaving them bare naked, and this reduced my bezels widths by about half. Much improved !! Do so at your own risk, pivoting stand each have to have 4 holes drilled to match backplate for stable support with case absent. Google it I also put black electrical tape over the thinner bezels which are silver naturally
October 9, 201312 yr Just switched from 3x 26" to 3x 32" and wow what a view ! WOW! I have 3 X 24" Dell which I love! Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 9, 201312 yr Also, as far as triple portrait mode goes, the fisheye at the corners is far less pronounced as the overall aspect ratio is much closer to a standard single widescreen.
October 9, 201312 yr Build a cockpit for your panels and then use 3 monitors for your views. or What I think would be awesome is three 4K monitors that are each 60" in size All right...... I got carried away . Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 9, 201312 yr All right...... I got carried away . nahhhh if you like to have a frame per second, ok Then if someone asks how the fps is you can say a solid one it is Build a cockpit for your panels and then use 3 monitors for your views. But where is the panel? under the monitors? Thats why I prefer portrait to that
October 9, 201312 yr Another option is to have a large screen and the smaller screen below as a 1x2 eyefinity configuration (or whatever the similar option is in nvidia) with the big screen on top and computer monitor below. here is a vid I did on mine when I had 3 x 42" screens set up as portrait-landscape-portrait with the touchscreen below center.
October 10, 201312 yr I usually use surround in landscape mode but recently tried portrait. Must say I was really impressed. The loss of horizontal peripheral vision was more than made up for by the increased vertical space. Also, as said above, there is much less edge distortion. Only complaint is there is more of the "looking through the bars" effect. The solution might be to get the bars further apart by using say three 42" TVs in portrait mode. Would need a lot more work to set up though. gb. YSSY. October 10, 201312 yr The bars (bezels)... I got used to them Its like looking out a window, and airplanes have windows anyway....
October 10, 201312 yr Author I see that a lot of people prefer 3 screen configs, which i would too if i could get good fps, which is my main priority. I wouldn't like to have a 3 screen config with only 10fps. there has to be a good fps versus the view and experience you get using 3 screens. What are your average framerates guys with your configs?
October 11, 201312 yr What are your average framerates guys with your configs? In FT Dubai, with PMDG 777 fair weather, I get 30FPS Locked. In UK EGLL or NL EHAM with so many add ons, I get 11FPS In So cal Mega so cal, FSDT LAX, Aerosoft's city, ,I get around 20FPS. For a three monitor setup a good video card certainly helps.. I have seen so many posters come here and proclaim there is not much difference between a $200 card and a $600 card. That may be true in a single monitor set up... But for a thrree monitor set up, you get your money's worth with a good 780 card. I have a 670 FTW. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 13, 201312 yr I am uploading a full unshrunken copy of wht I see with a large 3600x 1920 resolution You will have to slide the pic around to see the whole thing This is at ORBX's freeare KVNY in FTGX //image deleted by moderator (exceeds both 1600 px max width and 400KB weight) -- please see AVSIM image posting rules in "Forums" dropdown //

In UK EGLL or NL EHAM with so many add ons, I get 11FPS That's why i want to avoid. As i am based in brussels, i like to fly into big european airports such as Amsterdam, London, Barcelona, Paris, Frankfurt, Roma, ... I need at least 16fps. Yesterday i landed into LGAV Athens at night with PMDG 737 NGX at about 18-20fps which is very good for me.
