Sometimes there is a sense in today's flightsim community that MS coded a less than stellar

product, but these guys clearly were as committed as any to make it first rate!

It is nothing more than amazing what was done to Flight Simulator from the 98 version up to FSX and ESP. While none were perfect (well, maybe FS2004 was for it's time) it was an amazing product in every way, still not surpassed today. To bad ACES never got to finnish FS11. It can't imagine where these guys would have taken us today if they were allowed to continue.

Since MS continues to fail at hardware and basically any new idea, maybe they will finally go back to being a software company and allow a new flight sim to be developed

Great to see the Steve Lacey guided tour there.

 

Sad to be reminded that Steve is no longer with us (killed by a drunk driver).

Yep, Lacey deserved a better departure for sure. He was a stellar guy, so was most of the ACES team. Too bad the trolls put and end to their participation in the community. Sure wish Tom and AVSIM had been as militant about the negativity agains ACES as they are about EULA discussions  .
