My modified (attached) Terrain.cfg entries to give you Vector Lighting on all urban and rural roads, and bridges....

Featured Replies

Where is the cool tool? Soon it is christmas... :good:

Kind Regards Tom

I did these entrees and now everytime I approach KSFO and depart from KLAX the ocean is filled with all land. Basically all rivers, streams, and lakes are all land.

Here is my modified TERRAIN.CFG entries for the UT section of roads, Urban and Rural, as well as Bridges.

I suggest that you have my file open in one window, and your TERRAIN.cfg file open in another.  Copy and paste to each section the VECTOR data line as I have, and boy..let me tell ya...your night world will LIGHT RIGHT UP......all major, and minor Urban and Rural.  I have left dirt roads (rural) alone as they usually in the real world, do not have overhead street lighting.

I would like to thank everyone in the other thread for discovering, adding to...and making ORBX Vector Lighting, now happen upon UTX roadways.  The file that was attached by a contributor to his post (and THANK YOU FOR THAT!), had a few entries lacking on some rural roads, and/or (I found) had a few that should have been single pole, rather than four-lane highway, for minor Urban and Rural.  I corrected that (well...for my tastes, of course) to light those roads up, and with either single or double-lined Vector lights as you would see in the real world.

The effect near KFNT was simply stunning!  The GOOD NEWS (at least on my spec'ed system...) was that I did not see an FPS hit as the night is now lit up as truly, the real world.

Again...THANK YOU SO MUCH, for those that scratched their heads...and delved into this.  ORBX  obviously KNEW that they could have lit up all UTX roads...but again, for whatever legal or self-interest, tendrils, did not auto-create this for when you first installed FSXG.

Please remember, to have both windows open as you copy and paste your way to a fully realized UTX-Road 'turning on the light switch...'

Fan-Flippin-Tastic...... :)

I just hope that nobody sends me the municipal bills for the power usage....LOL!

If you decide to try my entries....please do...and enjoy the end result.

Curious. KSFO is my 'home' airport and I don't have this problems. (I have seen this kind of thing happen when I once installed some scenery freeware with incompatible land class or shoreline corrections IIRC.) Hope you made a backup copy for your TERRAIN.CFG. Sounds like you've either made an error, or the changes are somehow incompatible with your installation. Maybe start over with just a couple and see if the Vector lights are working. As an aside, flying around KLAX with FTXG + these entries turns FSX into a slide show on my machine.

If you just pasted my text into your TERRAIN.cfg file, you can't do that. The numbers per entries are different to each computer. If you followed my instructions about two windows being open, where you cut and paste...then you should have had no problems....  I'd do it again...and seriously take your time with the cut and paste.  Once done, the effect is amazing. Especially in and around the Caribbean Islands.

unless I missed something, may I kindly and humbly suggest developers to refrain from making public announcements on upcoming releases when the deadlines (although flexible) are far from being met, because it actually gets some people waiting, myself included.

Not angry, just a courteous remark, I'll be very happy when this tool is released and willing to wait nonetheless ^_^

nice! :yahoo:

Is this just for FSX users or can P3D v2 users benefit from this too?

UTX is not currently licensed for Prepar3d. The dev is working on getting the legal contracts updated so he can support it in the future. Last I saw he was hoping for later this quarter.

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help  me out. I used the new tool to try out the vector lighting for ftxg and all of a sudden my frames where knocked down. I would be able to get 100+ with the default trik and now all of a sudden my frames will only go to about 30. I have a test flight that I load and this definitly happened after using this tool. I uninstalled the terrain.cfg changes and I still have low fps. I just want to  know if you guys know what was changed and if it was how to get the original files back?

Thank you very much in advance,

Anthony

By the way I use ftxg, utx, dx10 fixer and my tests are with no weather program and clear skies.
