Alabeo R66 is released!

Featured Replies

Came out today in a bit of a surprise.. but after 2 months I think it's about time! Can get it here: www.alabeo.com (22.95$)

Bought it and did a quick test, it's not bad at all ! Sounds are great, awesome visuals with really nice liveries and fde feels nice too... waiting on the more experienced users to judge it actually.

Just a quick shot from Aerosoft's Catalina demo... fps is super smooth with maxed sliders (waters on high-2x):

Now I just need a mid-night black paint for it and I'm gold!

Looks pretty nice!   I don't do choppers is FS (just can't fly 'em for love nor money!), but this looks great for the egg beater fans

can you put it in a cold & dark situation?  can you start it from engine/blades off?

I'm about to pull the trigger on this.. I've been wanting a nice heli.. so.. this might be it.

Ciao!

I just did a quick mp session with a buddy who bought it as well. VERY COOL !  :O

There's no built-in cold & dark, but I use a program that gives me this mode for any aircraft I want. It's called 'Sim Launcher'. An amazing freeware by Maarten Boelens, which replaces the entire fsx store front. You can set a global C&D mode and then customize each aircraft with the exact gauges you want ON/OFF. I just set it to OFF globally and this way I start each aircraft absolutely cold & dark. There's no need to save your flight and stuff like that. It really is about time people heard and started to use this great app. Maarten is a great programmer, everything works flawlessly on it and you can use it with both fsx & p3d! :)

The R66 is really nice, so far the comments on facebook are positive as well!

You can get SL here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/reiyseibeq4bsz9/SimLauncher_92.rar

If you guys want to quick check this chopper, get the new catalina demo and you're gtg!

Adding another shot:

Nope haven't tried that I'm afraid. We did a 10 minutes session just for testing. Tomorrow though, we'll set a vfr plan and probably try shared cockpit as well. Will report back once I have the answer to that.

+1 to Sim Launcher.. One of the best pieces of 100% freeware in a long time.. Pure quality coding and interface. I use it in Prepar3D..

See... a lot of people here on Avsim don't even know about it. I should open a dedicated thread. :)

Btw, Maarten is working on a completely brand new version with some cool suggestions I offered while using the current version.

For starters: removal of the ezca world cam entry from cameras.ini! :) the end of scenery corruption and annoyance/extra work each time you install a new aircraft. And of course more good stuff.. so I really can't wait. :)

I’m also not into helicopters, but I will give this one a try.

I fully support Alabeo. After all, they made the beautiful Waco, and the AgTruck!

Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

@adi518 - Thanks for the heads-up on Sim Launcher.  I had not heard of this but it sounds fantastic, so off to give it a whirl.   Great share.

Quick question, can you do a full start-up / shut-down on it?  As in, go from completely cold n' dark to flying to cold n' dark again?

Looks like Alabeo might put up a patch as the starter key won't work for some reason. Not sure. Regarding C&D, see my comments above.

Someone who flew a real robinson slightly adjusted the cruise speeds, see here: http://www.hovercontrol.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?s=a01e898b0a914b2219002a6fcf6f7863;act=ST;f=1;t=22709 (post by Leorstef). I want to generalize and say that Alabeo aircraft are usually in the more arcade side of things... it doesn't make them any less fun imo. :)

The key is just for the ignition. You can find the starter button on the fuel cutoff lever.

Greetings
Tim

Regarding C&D, see my comments above.

Which is why I asked.  From your original comment, I couldn't glean enough info.  When you say "There's no built-in cold & dark", does that mean that once you put the helo into cold & dark by other means (saved default c&d flight, or other), does it provide the ability to do a complete start up from that state?  And further, upon shutting down the helo, I take it it's not possible to completely shut it down?

When you use the term "built-in cold & dark", to me that means a menu option to get it quickly to a pure cold n' dark state.  Which I never really care about, since 95% of my GA style flying (which this helo would fall under for me) is 'open saved flight, do start-up from c&d, go flying, do shut down to c&d, save flight'.
